Now installing underfloor heating in shepherd’s huts. Did you know they can be used for storing other things as well as shepherds?
Would you like underfloor heating in your shepherd’s hut? Then don’t call me, it’s a killer on my knees.

Never mind the wallpaper - look at those lights.
Second fix completed recently in a posh bedroom with rock hard Kettering bricks. That was fun.

We removed this Honeywell Smartfit wiring centre and controls this week as the customer wanted a new Hive thermostat. The Smartfit system was an extra low voltage system with plug in zone valves and thermostats that you don’t see that often. This meant the system needed new 230v zone valves and a cylinder stat (and some other fancy plumbing stuff).
I installed the new wiring centre in a more accessible location with the Hive receiver adjacent to it. (I love those Timeguard wiring centres - plenty of room inside and enough cable entry clamps.)
It’s not always fancy light fittings and shiny sockets at MDC towers.

Another five yearly EICR for rental properties, or as I like to call them - “finding out who cut the most corners for the least amount of money last time” tests. The next person that knowingly leaves a property with either the main bonding disconnected or a ring circuit open ended and still issues a satisfactory report is getting named and shamed.

How about these for some fancy light fittings? I spent half of last week completely rewiring these French gothic style brass lanterns. For some reason, they came with about a foot of naff white flex, no chain or method of fixing so they weren’t fit for hanging. The customer managed to source some matching chain which he paired with some gold braided flex. We changed the lamp holders (the originals just had the wires twisted round them!) and he found some brass drip trays (known as bobeches apparently) and roses which came from 🇺🇸!!! A small man climbed up into the loft to bolt the roses to the ceiling joists, and I did the rest. They weigh an absolute ton though, and there’s still two to do but they are well worth the effort.

Some external lighting we’ve just finished on an ongoing job which was designed well over a year ago.
I just need a warm white lamp for the moon to match the rest.

I had a customer reject a quote recently for some work because I told them that the main bonding to the water and gas in a 1960’s house needed installing first.
I do come across the odd job from time to time where they have had recent work done and the main bonding has been overlooked, either undersized, not connected, wrong position, loosely connected, hidden or just not present. It can be difficult to explain why it needs installing and running cables to the correct positions can be tricky sometimes but I cannot stress how important it is.
Is the main bonding in your installation present and correctly sized? He’s some information about it.
