New Road Court Apartments in Porthcawl required a roofing solution that could respond to a highly exposed coastal environment, complex roof geometry and the need to protect residents from water ingress.

Using Marley’s SpecRite tool, a full pitched roof system was specified, including Double Roman concrete roof tiles in Mosborough Red, Marley underlay, JB Red battens and dry-fix systems. The completed roof is designed to support long-term performance, weather resistance and peace of mind for this occupied residential development.

Marley has launched Edgemere 2.0, the first UK roof tile to use carbon-capture cement technology.

In a first for UK roofing, Edgemere 2.0 combines Marley’s familiar concrete roof tile specification with carbon-capture cement technology and Carbon Bank evidence supplied for every order.

The result is a low carbon option with a Global Warming Potential of just 1.86kg CO2e per m² from cradle to gate.

Supporting the next generation of architectural technologists is vital to the future of the UK construction industry.

Earlier this year, we welcomed first-year students from Nottingham Trent University to our Burton site for a roofing course and a tour of our manufacturing facilities. It was rewarding to hear how the experience supported their learning and informed their end-of-year Passivhaus projects for the NTU Degree Show 2026.

We were pleased to continue supporting the course by awarding cash prizes to the two strongest projects. Congratulations to Madison Gammons, whose winning two-storey Passivhaus design skilfully incorporated a solar PV solution for local energy generation, and to Niya Maxwell, who received second place for her detached home project in The Park, Nottingham.
