π₯ Summer 2026 has brought an unprecedented level of wildfire activity across England and Wales.
By 16 August, fire and rescue services had already attended 1,132 wildfires, surpassing the entire 2025 total of 1,017.
July alone saw 458 wildfires, making it the busiest month on record, while prolonged hot and dry conditions continue to increase the risk across the country.
With 71.3% of England in drought as of 20 August, the recent change in weather doesn't mean the risk has disappeared. Dry ground and vegetation can remain highly susceptible to fire even after periods of rainfall.
For businesses, this is an important reminder that fire safety isn't seasonal. π₯
