🌱 From Field to Finished Seed – Altivo Harvest Underway 🚜

The journey to producing high-performing grass seed starts long before it reaches the bag.

Recently, our Seed Production Administrator, Abigail Lloyd, took members of the warehouse team to see the harvest of second-year Altivo and gain a better understanding of the seed production process.

A big thank you to Mickey for providing an insightful demonstration of the harvesting operation, including the combine, stripper header, and how the crop is carefully harvested.

Altivo continues to impress, ranking #5 in the British Society of Plant Breeders - BSPB/STRI Group Turfgrass Seed 2026 S1 Table. Launched in 2024, this perennial ryegrass cultivar is recognised for its excellent all-round performance, with early spring growth and rapid recovery making it an ideal choice for high-quality sports turf.

A Great Day on the Golf Course for a Great Cause ⛳

We were delighted to be invited to take part in the charity golf day hosted by Avant Tecno UK , in partnership with BSERUFC, on 9th July, raising funds for the East Anglian Air Ambulance Charity — a charity providing an invaluable service to communities across the region.

The event was held at the Suffolk Golf Club in Fornham All Saints and brought together teams from across the industry for a day of friendly competition, networking, and fundraising.

Representing Barenbrug, our fourball consisted of our colleagues: Greg Silcock (Warehouse Team), Lewis Brown (Captain, Warehouse Team), Callum Last (Operations Team), and Menco Veenstra (Manufacturing Operations Manager). The course certainly provided a challenge — with a few golf balls sacrificed along the way (some may say they’re now part of the local wildlife) — but there were also some impressive shots, plenty of laughs, and a great team spirit throughout the day. 🏌️‍♂️

Beyond the scorecard, it was a fantastic opportunity to spend time with colleagues, meet new people, and support a very worthy cause.

A huge thank you to Avant Tecno UK for organising a great event, that combined business, networking, and giving back to the community.
