🌱🚜 Event season has been in full swing!

Our first time exhibiting at Cereals Event was a great success, despite some wet and muddy conditions. It was fantastic to meet so many farmers, industry experts, and suppliers, and discuss the role of grass and forage in modern farming systems.

We were also proud to attend the Royal Welsh Grassland Event 2026 as a Gold Sponsor.

Visitors explored our grass and forage boxes and saw our Permanent Supreme mixture performing in real field conditions.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by our stands at both events. It was great to catch up with familiar faces and meet plenty of new ones too!

🌱 Meet our new Field Technician, Evelyn Watson!

Eve has joined the team at our Knutsford Breeding Station, working alongside Senior Grass Breeder Charlotte Jones and Neil Haynes.

Before joining Barenbrug, Eve spent two years volunteering with the National Trust on a range of environmental projects across Herefordshire.
This experience inspired her move into agriculture and led her to her new role supporting our breeding and trials work.

Eve previously completed a CertHE in Environmental Earth Science at Aberystwyth University and is currently studying part-time with the Open University towards a BSc in Natural Science.

Outside of work, Eve enjoys running and hiking the countryside. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ₯Ύ

As more golf courses across the UK & Ireland move towards lower-input, more sustainable turf management, overseeding programmes are evolving too β›³

But when selecting bentgrass for overseeding, are all species performing equally under UK conditions?

Drawing on independent BSPB trial data and STRI research, our article explores how browntop bentgrass cultivars compare with creeping bent in areas including year-round performance, turf density, shade tolerance, recovery and Poa annua suppression.

The findings highlight why many course managers are increasingly considering browntop bentgrass as part of a long-term strategy for sustainable, resilient turf.

Harness the power of clover for a greener, more sustainable future! 🌱

In an era of fluctuating farm input prices, integrating clover into your ley offers a magnitude of advantages. From reducing the need for purchased nitrogen to enhancing the quality of homegrown feed, clover is game changer in livestock management. πŸ„

Clover's benefits extend beyond the balance sheet. By fixing nitrogen, enriching the sward with minerals, and increasing sward density, clover is a cornerstone of soil health and fertility.
Adaptable to various soils and climates, clover stands as a resilient ally in your farming system. And let's not forget our buzzing friends – pollinators and insects thrive in clover leys, finding sustenance and shelter amidst its lush foliage. 🐝🌸

For those focused on cutting, red clover is a prime choice with its upright growth habit and deep taproot.
See our infographic to explore the full benefits red clover can bring to your farm 🚜
