We’re buzzing for World Honey Bee Day! 🐝

Celebrated on the third Saturday in August, World Honey Bee Day is an opportunity to celebrate the honey bee and the keepers who tend their hives.

Here at Gaia, we couldn’t ‘bee’ happier to sponsor a beehive with Haughley Honey, helping them to boost hive numbers and encourage biodiversity and wildlife protection.

Haughley Honey are local to Gaia HQ and we’re proud to help them raise awareness of the importance of honey bee pollination and its impact on the food supply chain and ecosystem.

In the next part of our ‘Meet the Team’ series, meet our Commercial Team Manager, William Theobald 👋

Having been with Gaia for 14 years, William has grown alongside the business, progressing from making cold calls, to Account Management, to now becoming Commercial Team Manager.

Today, he still works closely with many of Gaia’s long-standing key accounts, building strong customer relationships and securing new projects whilst also managing members of our sales and administration team.

What does a typical day look like? 🤝
No two days are ever the same, which is something William enjoys about his role. Some are spent in the office managing accounts, supporting the team, holding meetings and driving process improvements. Others involve visiting customers, attending site meetings and delivering CPD sessions, making every week varied and rewarding.

And outside of work? 🥁 💪
Family time is a big priority, with days out and holidays with his partner and their family. When there’s time to unwind, William enjoys keeping active at the gym and swimming, as well as playing drums in a band at local venues and festivals.

In the next instalment of our ‘Meet the Team’ series, meet Jenny O’Connor, our Senior Account Manager! 👋

Having been with Gaia over three years, and having worked in the UFH industry for over 18 years, Jenny plays a key role in supporting projects from the very early stages through to delivery.

As Senior Account Manager, Jenny works closely with architects, consultants, developers and contractors to help bring underfloor heating projects to life.

What does a typical day look like for Jenny? 🏗️
Jenny’s role sees her balancing time between the office, customer meetings and site visits, ensuring projects are supported every step of the way. From discussing specifications with design teams and consultants, to visiting customers and supporting live projects, Jenny is involved throughout. Her collaborative approach and industry knowledge help ensure each project progresses smoothly from concept to installation.

And outside of work? ✈️ 🧘
Away from work, Jenny enjoys spending time with her young family, who certainly keep her on her toes! She also loves playing tennis at her local tennis club, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen and planning future travel adventures with her family. Canada last year was one of her favourite trips so far.

Next up in our ‘Meet the Team’ series is Thomas Howling, our Design Manager! 👋

With more than 21 years at Gaia, Thomas has played an important role, backed by his extensive experience and technical knowledge.

Thomas joined Gaia as a Designer before progressing into the role of Senior Design Consultant, and now leads the team as Design Manager. His long-standing experience gives him a deep understanding of both the technical and operational side of the business.

What does a typical day look like for Thomas? 📐
Thomas oversees and coordinates the estimate and design requirements across all businesses within the group. His day involves allocating new design and estimate enquiries to the team, reviewing work completed by external subcontractors and ensuring information is processed efficiently for the sales, logistics and operations teams. He also provides support for design-related queries and attends design and pre-start meetings both on-site and remotely.

And outside of work? ⚽ ⛳
Away from the office, Thomas is heavily involved in football, both playing and coaching, as well as running a youth football team. When football season comes to an end, he swaps the pitch for the golf course and enjoys fitting in as many rounds as possible.

Thomas’ experience, leadership and technical expertise help support the Gaia team and our customers every day 👏
