Another successful project completed!

This bespoke footbridge was fabricated in our workshop and carefully installed for a private client, creating a safe, durable, and attractive crossing solution.

The project also included desilting works and the installation of oak revetments to the moat, helping to improve water flow, protect the banks, and enhance the surrounding environment.

We’ve recently completed the design and are now starting construction on this exciting project in Suffolk. The work involves stripping out the existing liner and geotextile from three lagoons and combining them into one large reservoir.

As part of the transformation, we’ll also be reshaping the banks to create a shallower profile.

🌿 Protecting Heritage, Enhancing Nature 🌿
We’re making great progress on vital restoration works to Valence House North Moat, the last remaining section of the medieval moat that once surrounded the Manor House.
This important heritage asset is being carefully conserved to protect its historic significance while delivering long‑term environmental and biodiversity benefits ensuring both history and nature can flourish into the future.
💧 The moat has been carefully drained
🛠️ Built up silt has been removed to improve water quality
♻️ That silt is reused to repair and strengthen eroded banks
🌱 Coir rolls are being used to naturally stabilise the banks and create new reed beds
🌳 Marginal planting and selective tree work will improve the wider setting

All works follow heritage, ecological and safety requirements, and the park remains open to the public

🌍Celebrating International Day of Action for Rivers

At Miles Water Engineering, we’re proud to deliver river restoration projects that bring nature back to life. Healthy rivers support thriving wildlife, resilient landscapes and stronger communities.

In North London, we helped transform a slow, silted watercourse by creating wetland scrapes, woody berms, flow deflectors and habitat refuges. Designed by MWE to boost water movement, improve fish passage and increase biodiversity.

In Leicestershire, we reconnected Langton Brook to its floodplain, created new meandering channels and added ponds and riffles to create a more vibrant, diverse habitat for local wildlife and communities.

These projects highlight what can be achieved when engineering works with nature, not against it.
Today, we celebrate rivers and renew our commitment to protecting them.

Project Spotlight: Phase 1 Waterway the River Restoration Centre

We’re excited to share the successful completion of Phase 1 of a major restoration project for a private estate in Wiltshire! This initiative focused on improving water quality, restoring amenity value, and safeguarding a historically and environmentally significant setting.

Key Achievements:
Mechanical dredging and revetment works using hard and soft engineering techniques

Habitat enhancement with coir rolls and bank stabilisation

Delivered sensitively within a highly protected landscape, ensuring compliance with environmental and heritage requirements
