Kate is so close to finishing her modern Stage 2 AMUSF project. This vintage Parker Knoll looks fabulous in the Harris Tweed. Well done Kate! Now onto the traditional project.

Jenny has finished her first ever upholstery project. I always say to people it’s good to start with a small project…am I ever listened to 🤷‍♀️ However Jenny has been patient and consistent with her high standards and the end result is fantastic. Well done Jenny!

Kim still has places on the blind and curtain making classes running on the 19th November (blinds) and the 3rd December (curtains) These classes have proved a huge success. Small numbers of students so you get lots of time to learn with Kim. Booking details are available on the website or through the post link!

Well Horsehair & Hessian’s Instagram reached 40k followers yesterday. Firstly thank you for following what we do!! Also I thought it would be a good chance to tell new followers a bit about us.
Originally just me, but now joined by Kim (who teaches soft furnishing courses) and Phoebe (the incredibly patient person who keep things rolling) we are Horsehair & Hessian.
Based in rural Suffolk and working from my workshop and further a field we run both leisure classes in upholstery and soft furnishing and also the AMUSF Diploma. We aim to teach to the very best standard and love seeing what students can achieve with a little bit of guidance and confidence in their ability.
Kim and my approach to teaching is similar, relaxed and informative. No question is too small and we loved to be challenged with exciting projects. Kim and I have found the best place for our business meetings is in the pub over a gin and tonic, followed by a flurry of emails to Phoebe (who I’m sure eye rolls everytime!) But between us, we are growing this little business. Exciting times ahead, we are moving to bigger premises to allow us to offer more classes in different crafts. So watch this space!

Well done Sarah! This Howard & Son Ivor chair looks much better with her new clothes on. This was a partial rebuild with the seat being totally reconstructed. I think it looks rather lovely….now to see how long it takes for the dogs to find it!

Kim will hate me for posting this photo, but I always think she looks super glam! We had one of our ‘business meetings’ in the pub at the end of last week and there is an exciting new course starting with Kim on a Thursday, from October. A weekly soft furnishing class so you can really get stuck in to projects. Places will be limited. Details on the website shortly or contact me or Kim for more details.

Kim has over 30 million years experience in soft furnishings and you couldn’t be in better hands to learn.
