Afternoon everyone,

So this week saw Heritage Paintings last involvements with Black 5, 45212 under Rileys before it goes back home to the KWVR.

We've spent a few days tarting the engine up ready for its big move, there have been a few things in the cab that have had work done, like the firebox doors, patching in some areas on the roof, the injector trimmers and tender cupboards. Ive been on the inside of the frames patching sections in where fittings had been cut off. As for the outside, there were some areas that had rusted or new pieces been welded on by the engineering side which needed patching in with black paint. Then finally, rubbing on an oil mixture to the tender, cab, boiler and smokebox, just to bring some life back into the paint work.

Not too much has happened in the grand scheme of things at the works whilst we've been at the ELR, Daniel has been cracking on with machines, his next one is currently in undercoat and awaiting a first coat of gloss.

Chloe and myself have done some more work on 34007, the back end of the frames are once again glossed thanks to Chloe after some work had been done to them in the previous months. I've been working more on the cab windows, the sliding windows arent very far from completion now.

Jinty 47445 has also had some work done, the motion rods are up into undercoat and will recieve a couple coats of gloss next week, and the odd couple of pieces from inside the frames have been brought up into black gloss (no pictures I'm afraid)

Morning Everyone!

We have been a little busy this week jumping from multiple engines.

Chloe and myself have mostly focused on Bulleid pacific 'Wadebridge', Chloe has been overseeing work on the back end of the engine frames which required a bit of attention after work had been done to them, just a case of filling, patch priming and appling a coat of undercoat. She has also been giving the ponytruck off 34007 the same treatment.

Ive been in the paint shop most of the week sorting out 34007's cab again, focusing mostly on the window frames, all panels have been woodstained and most sections have already had a first coat of varnish.

Other work we've had in the paint shop are off Jinty 47445, a few pieces of inside motion are being worked on and is nearly primed. A couple other pieces from inside the frames have also been given attention.

The final engine we've been working on is KWVR's 45212, we'll be handing back the engine to the Worth Valley soon, so we're just sprucing it up some areas before it heads back.

Daniel has been cracking on with his machines, another one is done and dusted as shown, he is now onto the next one and started sanding it back. And that is all for this week!

Afternoon folks,

We're back after a week away, and there's not much too interesting to show off this week...

So Chloe has been bringing up 45163's frames into an undercoat, we won't be taking it any further than that whilst there's still work needed on them. She has also brought up some of the sand pipe covers for the Five.

Meanwhile Ive been working on 34007's cab more. Mostly touching up bits, there have been plenty of new bolts and nuts that have been fitted so they will all require priming and most likely just a gloss next week (shall see how well it covers, otherwise they'll need undercoat) Another thing Ive been doing on Wadebridge are the wooden window frames, sanding them all back ready for staining.

Daniel has been working on more machines, one is fully cleaned down (the blue one) and another is ready for a coat of gloss to be applied. Still plenty for him to practice on.

Other than those main jobs, we've been practicing our signwriting and working on a couple of side projects. Hopefully start on some more jobs in the coming weeks.

Evening everyone!

So this week sees a full week on 45163 (and a couple sand pipes for 34007).

Its going to be a rather short update. A lot of pieces in our paint shop are in a final gloss now, which includes the main cylinder covers, trailing sandboxes and one of the pipes for the Sanders.

The two pieces that fit above the cylinders are in a first gloss, and the smaller plates that fit on the front the cylinder covers are also in first gloss.

The chimney has recieved its final coat of heat resistant black and is ready to leave the paint shop. Another image shows a cover from the smokebox perch which is in a first gloss.

Other than that, just a couple side jobs including some high-intensity lamps and a sign writing project.

There won't be an update next week whilst I'm in Fort William and Chloe is still on holiday, so I shall see you guys in a couple weeks!

Hello everyone!

So this week sees a lot of work on Black 5, 45163. Chloe has done a lot of work on the engine frames, getting most of it up into a coat of grey primer. There's still some areas that require primer, but they'll be sorted next week.

Meanwhile, in the paint shop, the cylinder covers, sand boxes, sand pipes and chimney have all recieved treatment. They've all gone throught the process of sanding back, coat of primer, a layer of black undercoat and most of them have had some gloss applied. As for the chimney, its currently on its third layer of heat resistant paint, this will most likely require one more coat.

34007 didnt see much work from us this week, its currently in the middle of reciving touch ups as plenty of new nuts and bolts have been fitted.

A few side projects have also had some work. Daniel has been cracking on with one of the machines in the main works as a project to build up his skills. A part of the Jinty's (47445) brake hangers required some attention, this was sanded, primed, undercoated and glossed. The last things that were done are some railway plates.

That'll do for this week. Next week I'll be the only painter in the works, so there will be an update then. However, the week after, there won't be an update whilst Chloe and myself aren't on site.

Afternoon Everybody,

So there won't be a proper update this week, been a rather quiet one whilst most of us have only been in for three days this week.

But progress has been focused on 45163, getting the frames into primer and the running boards being given some attention. Some of it will require more attention as we've found areas that have been vinyl wrapped instead of painted, but we'll sort it out 👍

I'll try and come up with a more in-depth update on Monday of proceedings and provide everyone some photos!

Afternoon everybody,

Just a quick post this week, Chloe has sent over a couple photos whilst I'm away.

With Wadebridges cab pretty much done, everything is being fitted back on the inside ready for it to go back on the frames.

As for 45163, plenty more filling, brush filling and priming has been done on the frames, so that they are up to the same standard as 54 & 48.

Afternoon everyone,

So this week sees a lot of glossing in the paintshop. 34007 backhead cladding has had a final coat of gloss and is ready to be fitted. Other parts that had some treatment is a piece for the throat plate, which is currently up into undercoat, and parts of the cladding frames have been sanded back and had the old paint removed.

Moving onto 45163, progress is finally being made, Chloe has been working on the engine frames, starting off by sanding it back, they then recived a light skim of filler to remove any imperfections, and to top it off, a bit of brush filler mixed with grey primer was added for any areas that may have been missed. Fingers crossed by the end of next week, she'll have them up into undercoat.

Whilst sanding the frames back, she made a start on sanding the valance, buffer beam, and made a start on the piano front, so it's coming along nicely.

In the paint shop, nearly all the cylinder covers have been given a final gloss. They may require an extra coat once they're fitted back on. Hopefully, it shouldn't be needed.

Daniels project this week has been bringing up one of the machine in the main workshop, trying to build up his skills as a painter, he has gone through the process of undercoating it, glossing and because the paint hadn't covered properly, he has given it a second gloss.

The final project is a side one for a friend of the companies, with the signwriting boards we've been doing as of recently, we were asked if we could do one of 45690. It is currently up into gloss in the moment, but it'll be good practice for Chloe and myself whilst we are still fairly new to signwriting.

That will be all for this week, as a heads up, there may be no update from me whilst I'm up in Fort William next week, if Chloe and Daniel send me some photos, I'll get one out to you!

Afternoon everyone,

Hope you're all okay in this heat. This week has been a slight struggle in the paint shop, no AC, and when we've had the fan on, we've not been able to do much glossing, but we've plodded on...

So 34007's cab is now nearly complete on our end, just requires the black lining at the bottom of the cab on the back panels. Chloe has been making progress on getting the backhead cladding all filled, two of which are now in gloss, the other two require a little more attention. Daniel has also done some work on 34007, just getting some smaller parts like the fuse box and injector handles into a coat of gloss.

During the week we also acquired some cladding off 45163's cylinders and splashers. A couple panels have needed some mending, whilst others have just required filler. Most the panels on the inside are up into gloss, however the outsides still require attention.

Another little project I've been working on is working on my signwriting. Earlier this year, Chloe was the one signwrote the numbers on 45407 as I wasn't confident enough, so I wanted to get some practice.

That's all this week, more progress will be commencing on 45163 in the next few weeks.
