Thank you to everyone who supported our horticultural show yesterday. Almost fifty exhibitors staged more than 300 exhibits, including displays from Whitefield Guides and Rainbows.

We are holding our Autumn show this Saturday 1/11/25 , all welcome to visit or enter produce.

Please drop in after 2pm at the Oasis Centre, Elms street Whitefield, admission free, donations welcome 😊

Our Autumn show is going to be held on Saturday the 1/11/25.

The show will open at 2pm for visitors and admission is free, with donations welcome.

There will be the opportunity to buy a drink and a cake to help with fundraising.

Only three weeks to go until Whitefield Horticultural Society hold their summer show on the 6th of September.

Please come and join us when we open to the public at 2pm and see what people have been growing through the summer, together with various art and craft exhibits.

The show is at the Oasis Centre, Elms st, Whitefield (opposite Morrisons) easy parking in Morrisons car park.

Tea/coffee and a slice of cake £2.50

On the 26/7/25 a small group of members had a trip to RHS Bridgewater. Next year we hope to make this trip a feature on our annual calendar. These gardens never disappoint and we had a fabulous afternoon.

On Saturday the 5th of July we had a fascinating monthly talk, presented by Martin Prescott about bats and how we can help to protect them. Martin is a bat expert and gave us a talk, with photos, about the variety of bats in our area and how and where to observe them.
The common pipistrelle is so small it can fit in a matchbox, however it can easily eat 3000 insects a night, flitting around the garden.

We supported Eden Garden allotments open day on the 29/6 and held a plant sale, which raised over £200. Their next event is on the 27/7 where there will be refreshments and seasonal produce on sale.

Our next monthly talk on the 2nd of August is how to prepare flowers, vegetables and fruit for a horticultural show, helping us to prepare for our September show !

Please come and join us, we meet at the Oasis Centre in Whitefield on Saturdya mornings between 10 til 12. Annual fee £2.

Today Whitefield Horticultural Society took a coach trip to Arley Hall In Cheshire, for their 30th Garden Festival. The weather was warm and sunny, we had a lovely day there.
Arley Hall has been used as a location for “Peaky Blinders”, “Fool Me Once”, “Brassic”, “Coronation Street” and more.
There are many stalls and events being held there over this weekend !
If you are interested in similar trips, please come along to Whitefield Horticultural Society, we meet on Saturday mornings at the Oasis Centre, Elms Street, Whitefield, between 10-12 , annual membership just £2. Just drop in 😊

A huge thank you to everyone who came to the Whitefield Horticultural Society’s celebration and plant sale day 😊
Although it rained continuously, we were supported by many new people, including friends from Heaton Park WI , All Saints Mothers Union and Prestwich Camera Club. It was our first attempt at an outdoor plant sale at our club premises and we are delighted to have raised over £210 ! Many thanks to all who braved the rain ☔️ we appreciate every one of you . We look forward to meeting some of you as new members 👨‍🌾
