The secret to super tight mitre joints 👀

Getting a perfect mitre isn’t always about the saw.

This is how we use our guillotine to make those final, tiny adjustments and get the joints absolutely spot on.

It might look a little unconventional… but the results speak for themselves. 🔨

Would you have guessed this is what we use it for?

Getting the scribe blade set to the correct tolerance on the panel saw.

It might only be a tiny adjustment, but spending 20 minutes getting this right makes a huge difference between a chipped scruffy finish and a clean quality finish on the end product.

A little bit of setup = a much better cut. 👌

There’s nothing quite like fitting fresh blades to the panel saw. 👌

In this one I’m changing the main blade and scribe blade, getting everything ready for another day of cutting sheet material in the workshop.

Simple job, but a sharp, correctly set blade makes a huge difference to the quality of the cut.

Sharpening a chisel… but make it ASMR. 🔪

A quiet 1:30 in the workshop getting this chisel back to a razor-sharp edge.

I kept the voiceover deliberately hushed and left plenty of room for the sounds of sharpening to come through.

Volume up. 🔊

A small part of the process that you don’t normally get to see.

Before we start machining this clients cutlist, every component needs to be worked out to maximise efficiency and minimize waste. Then it’s checked and cut to the correct size.

In this video I’m taking you through the cut-list stage and showing how we turn the customer’s requirements into a machining list ready for them in the workshop.

It might look like a simple list of numbers, but getting this stage right is what makes everything fit together properly.

One piece of timber at a time. 🪵

There’s something incredibly satisfying about using a Lie-Nielsen spokeshave on a piece of solid oak.

No loud machinery, just a razor sharp blade, fine shavings, and complete control. Taking the sharp edge off by hand leaves a beautiful, tactile finish that’s hard to beat.

Do you still enjoy using traditional hand tools, or do you reach for the router every time?
