Wheel Insulation - Part 2. Once expoxy is applied as shown the assembly is baked for about 20 mins at 100 deg. The rear face of the wheel is then machined which removes the little spacing ridge (as shown in part 1). The cured expoxy now forms an insulation ring between tyre and inner wheel. Initial testing with a multimeter can check for ' no short'. I have a megger(insulation tester) which can then test at 500V and 1000V. All 4 wheels OK.

Insulation for 10mm scale IOM loco wheels - part 1. A very thin section of material is machined on the rear edge of the inner wheel assembly. This will be the thickness of the insulation which is 2 part exoxy. After application of the epoxy the assembly is ready for baking and final machining. Details to follow in part 2

Had a 'day off' on Wednesday. Went into London with some ex University friends. Travelled on the new Elizabeth Line the day after it officially opened. Travelled from Paddington to Abbey Wood. The a few jars in The Exemouth Arms near Euston Station.
