Great to be back at The Engine House, crown raising a line of Beech trees in the sun with my fabulous team! ☀️🙌💪

First day back off holiday on Monday and emergency removal of a stem from a mature Monteray Cypress (Cupressus macrocarpa). The stem had split at the base and had separated from the rest of the tree so we secured it first before its controlled removal.
Top team work. 🙌

Autumn has arrived!!🍂🍂 This is peak season for us as the trees head into dormancy. Here we were in Truburley removing a large Sycamore that had grown out of a hedge. It is a good time to take stock of the trees in your garden.

Harvesting Discovery apples 🍎🍏 after a VERY busy week, this Friday afternoon. The team have been in Saltash, St Dominick, Callington, Harrowbarrow, St Ann's Chapel and Bere Alston this week. Our diary is already very busy for Autumn and Winter. Wonder what the super el niño will bring?🤔

Fantastic views over Dartmoor while we are dismantling a very large Sycamore (Acer pseudoplatinus) which was a big threat to a group of houses and the highway.
Thank you to my team for their professionalism and hard work. 🙌

Happy Bank Holiday everyone!! Thank you Duchy College Stoke Climsland for this Friday afternoon treat. I am always powered by porridge! It was a pleasure to talk to students recently about arboricultural careers and the day-to-day life of an arborist. I was very impressed by this brilliant group of young people.

Last week in Bere Alston, we dismantled a mature Beech tree which we have been monitoring for a few years. Sadly the roots were lifting up a private road and the safety of the tree could no longer be ensured. In these 2 videos you can see me performing the same cut from 2 different perspectives! 👀 Technical and experienced lowering was required to dismantle these large extended branches over a shed, a wall and the road.

Thank you to my skilled and efficient team: 🙌 🙌

Long post alert!!! GRAB A CUPPA! ☕️ 🫖 The rather gusty winds today reminded us of one of the most difficult jobs we have had this year. Back in January, Storm Goretti brought this Eucalyptus down, narrowly missing the house; except the main branches were on the rooves!! ⚠️ It had amazingly caused very little damage to the house and the trick was to get it off the house, without it rolling. Knight Scaffolding of Liskeard expertly fitted some scaffolding and boards between the tree and the rooves so we had something to work from. It rained heavily and constantly during the 2 days in Saltash! Remember the 60 odd days of rain? 💭💦More Winter tree posts in-coming. We just haven't had time till now!😱🥵 If you have storm damage from today's gusts, don't hesitate to get in touch. As you can see we really do take on anything!😁🙌
Thanks to my team and and Mrs 🌳 for your help and support in this very tricky job.
