This year’s main trail theme is Children’s Books 📚 whilst the children's picture trail is themed around Nursery Rhymes — so it’s set to be a brilliant weekend out for the whole family.

🚧 New Project — Renovation & Extension Underway!

We’re excited to share that we’ve recently started work on a renovation and extension project here in Wiltshire 🏡

This is a detached property with a lot going on, and we’re delivering a comprehensive package of works including:

🏗️ Courtyard infill extension — a new single storey addition cleverly filling the space between the existing cottage and outbuilding, rendered in white to match the existing property

🔩 First floor steel frame extension — sitting over the existing garage footprint, a structural steel frame carries a new first floor with a hipped pantile roof to complement the original building

🏠 Space for two households — the scheme expands living accommodation for both the main house and the annex, with new rooms, and a proper staircase connection between levels

We can’t wait for the before and afters on this one! We’ll be sharing progress photos as the build develops — follow along! 📸

🏠✨ Another transformation coming to a close in Wiltshire!

We’re wrapping up a fantastic project that’s been a real pleasure to work on — and the results speak for themselves.

Our team has been busy delivering a full package of improvements for this client, including:

🛏️ Single storey extension — a new accessible bedroom and ensuite, designed to make everyday life easier

🏚️ Full house re-render — the whole exterior has had a fresh new look

🌿 Landscaped outdoor space — new patio, retaining walls, raised planters and fresh turf bringing the garden together

♿ Ramped access — thoughtfully designed access route leading to the gym, keeping everything practical and fully accessible

From the ground up to the roof line, it’s been a real all-rounder — and we’re proud of how it’s all come together for the client.

A huge thank you to our brilliant team for their hard work and attention to detail throughout, and to our client for trusting us with such a meaningful project. 🙌

Today’s post for Small Business Week is an update on our new build project, as promised! Our bricklaying team have officially handed over the baton…

✅ The roof is now complete

✅ Inside, our carpentry team are working on the studwork and the rooms are starting to take shape

✅ Our plumber is carrying out 1st fix, including underfloor heating

✅ And the doors and windows are starting to go in.

📖✨It’s Story Time!✨📖

Back in 1970 John left school and fell into a labouring role. He enjoyed the work and soon took on the role of ‘Improver Bricklayer’, quickly developing a passion for bricklaying. He worked for others picking up the tricks of the trade, before committing to going out on his own as a Sole Trader. In 2000, John Bodman Ltd was born and that year we started our first development, three 2-bed houses in Calne. In 2007, Jake joined the family business as a bricklayer, and the Bodman Builders brand was born!

John and Jake still share the same passion for their craft today and have curated a like-minded team. To date, we are proud to have completed approximately 350 projects, including 9 new builds, more than 100 extensions and over 20 renovations.

Running a small business is hard work, but it means everything when people choose to support us. That’s why Small Business Week matters!

We are looking for a Project/Contract Manager to join our busy team and help shape a new role within our business!

As this is a new role for us, there is an oportunity to make it your own and play a key part in supporting the future growth of Bodman Builders.
