Battery Myth Busted!
We've seen batteries installed in a wide range of locations, a popular one being the loft. It seems logical, it will be out of the way and make use of otherwise useless space.
However batteries are heavy, sometimes very heavy, and they can cause a real hazard if there was a fire and they fell through the ceiling.
The batteries also need to easily accessible for maintenance and monitoring, lofts and tight spaces make this very difficult.
Lofts can also get very hot in the warmer months, this can affect the performance and safety of the battery.
It is also wise to consider where they are installed elsewhere in the home, are they blocking an exit or escape?
We recommend an outside install or in an outbuilding or garage. Where would you recommend?
