For the past couple of years I’ve not done much in the house as I was in too much pain after working all day
Therefore as I’m now retired I’ve been slowly working through each room over the past 7/8 weeks
I’m only posting these photos of one room as I want to thank the Craftsmen who created this opulent room
The work was carried out by John Locke and his son Alan . I myself did the Decorating.
The fluted Panels were sent up from down south, in MDF.
MDF is extremely porous so there is a certain specification in which one must follow to achieve the finish that’s been achieved in this room
The walls were skimmed with Tourette quick fill
Then I hung 3 layers of lining paper grade 2000, to get the flattest surface possible before John and Alan did their magic
Panels spec-
2 coats of Shellac -applied by a high density roller
Any holes can be filled with a 2 pack wood filler after the primer is fully cured
Prime said filler with 2 coats of a water based primer ,ie Zinserr 1,2,3 plus
Followed up with 4 coats of latex paint - Acrylic durable Matt , sanding with grade 180 in between coats and then removing dust with a tac rag
Can apply by roller however I would suggest you lay off using a synthetic brush
It’s time consuming but it’s very much worth it
The photos don’t do it justice tbh
Now it’s on to the kitchen
Anyway John and Alan Locke are the guys I would highly recommend if you need any joinery work carried out. They are reliable ,honest ,trustworthy and very good at their craft . As I said ,I cannot recommend them highly enough.
You won’t be sorry
