Phase 2 complete for our valued clients in , featuring a beautifully renovated bedroom πŸ›

Not too much to report in this one apart from our usual high standards of preparation, addressing stress cracks and blending filler to match the artex wall pattern.

Notably, we encountered an unexpected issue with torrential rain causing a window leak, resulting in a puddle on the freshly renovated window cills 😭

Fortunately, the damage was minimal, and our client was able to resolve the window issue, ultimately enjoying a stunning new bedroom and a watertight window πŸ˜….

Phase one complete for fantastic new clients in , highlighting that even older properties can present just as many challenges as new builds. πŸ™ƒ

A bedroom that had been affected by damp and mould and not decorated for over 15 years, with numerous surprises uncovered during the process.

The room required extensive preperation, including removal of peeling paint and multiple layers of high gloss on the woodwork. Fortunately, our attention to detail has yielded stunning results 🀩.

We recently completed an external project for a valued repeat customer in Canterbury πŸšͺ

The doors and porch were in relatively good condition, requiring only minor refinements, including peeling, glazing, and replacement of 2-part filler with our Repair Care solution, as well as targeted skimming to achieve a smooth finish πŸ‘

Enduring the heatwave, getting to site early to escape the weather from affecting materials...... I could not give anything more to this project physically or mentally and ill explain why πŸ™ƒ (In the meantime enjoy our pictures of the GREAT WALL OF

I completed this whole external property in 7 days after our lovely new customers received a quote for Β£800 to repaint the masonary πŸ™„ they knew to get the professionals in to undertake the project in a way they said has never been done before πŸ’ͺ

Phase 1⃣ Was spent jet washing any loose material such as blown & flaking paint and failing brick mortar..... 2 days

Phase 2⃣ Seal and stabilise using Zinsser Peel Stop making sure to back role..... 1 day

Phase 3⃣ First coat of Dulux Weathershield Smooth Masonry Paint tinted in Buttermilk..... 1 day

Phase 4️⃣ Fill in cavities with Toupret Rock solid Masonry repair filler and blend blown areas on window cills..... 2 days

Phase 5️⃣ Final topcoats of Dulux Weathershield Smooth Masonry Paint tinted in Buttermilk..... 1 day

There are many ways this process could have been undertaken, but we felt this was best for the results required by our customer. The canvas wasn't great but anything we can do to make it look a little better and solid was more than worthy in the long run.

Thanks once again to Keats scaffolding for a brilliant service and suppling grade A access πŸ‘

Its no secret, period properties are up there with some of my favourite projects. That includes this very enjoyable corridor project for our returning customer in 🀩

(Colour drenched using Farrow and Ball Dead Flat Matt in Setting Plaster)

Colour drenching is becoming very desirable as we've found with more enquiries regarding the process coming through regularly. Now, there are a few ways to do this, however in this example the finish on the ceilings, walls, and yes woodwork is a matt finish.

This is what i would consider to be a premium option as the materials required to achieve a colour drench in a matt finish are not the cheapest. In this instance, as there were water stains from rain due to a new thatch roof installation. Zinsser BIN Shellac base was approved to be used to cover the stains, this product is also an excellent grip primer for Farrow and Ball Dead Flat so to save on purchasing multiple paints this was a cost efficient solution to ensure adhesion.

(Note - Note all Matt paints are approve for woodwork and must be researched before applying. As an example Farrow and Ball matt emulsion is not compatible with woodwork whereas the Dead Flat is; hence the price difference and quality of finish)

More affordable options could include having regular matt emulsions on ceilings and walls, then using a wood paint such as satin wood for the woodwork. However, the sheen levels are different and could give the impression that they are slightly different shades of colour.... but still a great option.

In this case study the customer supplied the topcoats, however we ran out of paint πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ The customer tried to order more but it would arrive on deadline day for the project. Giving the best service possible we sourced the same topcoat and collected it that day meaning we was back on track and finished on time with a quality result!

Just a quick additional job for the same returning customer this week in

I say quick as we discussed the level of prep and wanting to give the best job possible i obviously suggested a high level of prep including skimming the door step.

However, after our customer told us the history of the cracks (the result of a near by bomb explotion in WW2!) I completely agreed not to hide the history of the property.

So we agreed to undertake the necessary prep or repairing the lava plaster, removing blown and flacking paint, and stabilising the surface.

Love working on period properties with a bit of history!

Hallway, stairs, and landing completed this week for our lovely returning customers in ! Really gutted i forgot to take prep photos of this one πŸ₯² I know i'm not the only tradesperson who's struggling to function in this heat..... but we get through it πŸ’ͺ

This property did have a professional (and i use that word lightly) decorator retouch areas that was damaged by builders on the property extension build.

Heres three top tips for them 'decorators' to help redeem any reputation you may have:

1⃣ Powder filler in cracks will instantly fail, try something harder wearing or flexible and apply scrim tape if applicable
2⃣ Because a door is sold as already primed doesn't mean you skip on an undercoat, the paint failed and pealed
3⃣ If the customer has colour they want, don't find a similar colour and think you'll get away with it; yes she noticed!

The end of a three week external painting and decorating project complete in just before the heat come in 🫠

A neighbour of an elderly lady got in contact with us after she asked him to find a painter and decorator in Canterbury; She was not disapointed by who he found πŸ˜€

Being so close to the centre we only had a 2 week scaffold permit to complete the front of the property, with rain due for the second week, longer hours and weekend work was necessary to complete the project on time.

More rot was found than expected but with the use of the Repair Care Dry Flex 4 System we was able to rebuild square edges on the facias for a quality finish, heres some of our process in action!

Special mention to Keats scaffolding for once again providing a professional scaffold and service in order for us to complete the project with high quality 🀝

Too many decorators describe themselves as a perfectionists, truth is you can aim for perfection but perfection isn't a real concept; as long as you do a better job than the last decorator thats perfection in its own right πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ¨

Lets talk about sheds baby, lets talk about you and me 🎢 or 8th wonder of the word man caves!

Managed to decorate this one a week or so ago while dodging the weather. A long wait for our lovely new customers in after being fully booked throughout the exterior season last year β€” but they waited for a flawless finish, and that’s exactly what they got! ✨
