Transforming the Tanyard and reconnecting the town!

Planning proposals for the Tanyard site have been validated, which continue to bring forward a new neighbourhood shaped by the area’s historic character and pattern of movement. The scheme will deliver around 160 homes alongside new streets, public spaces and pedestrian connections, reopening a previously inaccessible site and stitching it back into the wider town centre.

We are proud to continue working with Ashford Borough Council and the wider project team to deliver regeneration with genuine public benefit.

Another successful planning approval in Sevenoaks!

On Architecture has helped AILE HOMES secure planning consent for a development of 8 bespoke family homes in the village of Kemsing.

Key outcomes:
• Planning permission granted under delegated powers
• Sustainable redevelopment of a grey belt site
• No adverse impact on the Kent Downs National Landscape
• Delivery of much-needed local housing
• Mix of 3 to 5-bedroom family homes

Sevenoaks District Council recognised the scheme’s planning merits and its contribution to meeting housing needs while respecting the surrounding landscape.

Our proposals for Ashford’s Civic Centre have now been validated for planning.

The scheme reimagines the vacant civic complex as a new residential neighbourhood, retaining and adapting existing buildings while introducing new public spaces, landscape and pedestrian connections throughout the site.

Located between Ashford International, North Park and the town centre, the proposals seek to transform an inward-looking site into an open and connected place to live, rooted in Ashford’s evolving urban character.

Part of the ON team headed to Cambridge for a walking tour of some of the city’s most thoughtful and sensitive contemporary architectural interventions. Highlights included Niall McLaughlin’s West Court, Stanton Williams’ Young’s Court, and Haworth Tompkins’ work at Pembroke College.

It was inspiring to see how these practices have navigated some of the most challenging and historically rich sites in the country, balancing innovation with deep contextual understanding. Day two took us to Accordia; a masterplan that, years on, still stands as a benchmark for high‑quality residential design.

An architecture walk, a pub or two, and plenty of learning - exactly what CPD should be!
