From concept to future vision.

This masterplan drawing illustrates our approach to Ace2, reimagining a former education centre as a dynamic workplace overlooking the Bristol Channel. Through enhanced landscaping, improved site connections and flexible working environments, the design creates a place that can evolve alongside the wider regeneration of the former power station site.

Located in one of Cornwall’s most desirable coastal villages, Trelawns in Mawgan Porth enjoys elevated views over the beach and dramatic cliffs. The existing sun lounge had reached the end of its life, and a nearby hotel development had partially obstructed the outlook.

Through careful and considerate design, we tailored the proposal to the owners’ needs, ensuring the spaces function beautifully throughout the seasons. In summer, the sun space opens directly onto the garden, creating a seamless connection between inside and outside. A raised roof terrace provides enhanced views across the coastal landscape.

In winter, the extension becomes a warm and sheltered retreat, protected from the elements while still capturing framed coastal views and generous natural light.

What starts as a rough floor plan evolves through design development, spatial testing, sections, technical detailing, 3D modelling, material exploration and co-ordination before becoming a space people can experience in the real world.
Each stage plays an important role. Sketches capture ideas. Drawings refine them. Models help visualise them. Technical details make them buildable. Construction brings them to life.

This wellness project is a reminder that good architecture isn't created in a single drawing, it's the result of hundreds of considered decisions, developed collaboratively from concept through to completion.

Nestled in a quiet Carmarthenshire village, this former farmstead had slowly declined through decades of piecemeal diversification. The barns - each with their own character and varying architectural merit, still held a quiet dignity within the conservation area.

Our proposal brings them back to life.

By carefully retaining and repurposing the stone barns, the new home places these heritage assets at its heart. Although not formally listed, their positive contribution to the conservation area was recognised by the conservation officer and became a guiding principle for the design.

The result is a modern yet respectful dwelling that uses traditional materials in contemporary ways, creating light‑filled, flexible spaces suited to 21st‑century living while honouring the site’s rural past.

Back to the drawing board.

As part of Brod's expansion, we developed detailed concept drawings to explore how the new bakery and collection point would function before construction began.

The design centred on creating a purpose-built production bakery that could support the business's continued growth, alongside The Hatch - a welcoming collection point where customers could purchase fresh bakes directly from the bakery. A first-floor cookery school completed the brief, providing a flexible space for staff training and public workshops.

It's always interesting to revisit these early design drawings and see how the initial ideas evolved into the completed project.

Looking back at the original design vision for Kingsway Shopping Centre.

Working with the new owner, we explored how this prominent Newport landmark could be reimagined to meet the changing needs of the high street. Rather than simply refurbishing the existing spaces, our proposals focused on creating a flexible environment that could support independent retailers, encourage new businesses, and bring fresh energy back into the heart of the city.

These concept visuals capture our vision for adaptable retail units, activated walkways, and a more vibrant customer experience.

It was a privilege to work with a client who embraced bold ideas and shared our ambition to rethink what a town centre shopping destination could become.

Every once in a while, a project comes together in a way that feels especially rewarding.

This axonometric drawing explores the transformation of Ace2, originally designed by Loyn & Co as an education centre, into a contemporary workspace overlooking the Bristol Channel. Through a series of exploded layers, the drawing reveals the relationship between structure, materiality, and spatial organisation, illustrating how the building has been reimagined to support flexible ways of working.

The design balances collaborative and individual spaces, creating an environment that can adapt to changing user needs while maintaining a strong connection to the wider redevelopment of the former power station site.

A drawing that celebrates not only the architecture itself, but the process of carefully communicating design through representation.

Looking back at the original design visuals for Brod's purpose-built bakery and collection point.

Designed in 2022, the project supported the award-winning Cardiff bakery's expansion, relocating production into a dedicated baking facility while creating spaces that reflect Brod's passion for craft, education, and community.

The proposals included The Hatch - an over-the-counter collection point where customers can purchase fresh bakes directly from the bakery - as well as a first-floor cookery school for staff training and public workshops.

It's always rewarding to revisit the early visualisations and see how the design vision translated into the completed building.
