Two more Solar Scams today!!

We visited two properties owned by elderly people in the Vale, both had phone calls last week saying their Inverters are in fault, array not generating. A dangerous situation.

One lady agreed to a visit, a man arrived saying he was from an Essex based Solar monitoring company, and told her that the inverter was "running hot" and needed replacing. He asked for a £695 deposit and £2000 on completion.

Luckily the lady contacted a friend of mine and we stepped in, checked the inverter, isolators and strings. We found no fault. System operating normally as it has for the past 13 years.

Even if the inverter was faulty, a replacement would be about £650 fitted. NOT £2695!!

We think they are looking on Google earth for properties with an array, then finding their phone number online, these people are very convincing.

He also said he had multiple properties to look at in the Cardiff/Vale area, so it looks like other people could be at risk!

If you have family or friends who have a Solar system, please make them aware of this scam.

New scam to be aware of!

People are getting phone calls saying their Solar Array is in fault and isn't generating properly. Could be dangerous.

They kindly offer to send an engineer round if you pay a £250 deposit... The engineer will never arrive. And it might not just be the £250 they take.

If you have any concerns about your current Solar PV system, old or new. VoltageUK offer a PV Health check from as little as £99 + VAT.

It's recomended a PV system should be looked over every two years.

Bit of a challenge for the VoltageUK team this week.

Take an old tired lantern fitting that had seen better days, refurbish, prime and paint. Ready for another 100 years.

Remove a large heavy lantern out of the stairwell at The House Of Human Potential, mounted at about 6 meters.

Then move and install both in their beautiful home.
Fantastic result. Lots of huffing and puffing.

No end of "Only Fools and Horses" quotes.

But thankfully no comedy drops.

Big thank you to Robus lighting for a very interesting and educational trip to Dublin, we visited the business HQ, had presentations on current and new lighting products about to hit the market.
Toured the labs and warehouses all stocked up and ready to be shipped.

Even the founder of the busness MICHAEL SLEIN came out for a pint to talk to us all.

Hi, I'm Paul from VoltageUK LTD.

I'm a Director of the Company and also the qualified and registered MCS installer for Solar and Battery storage installations.

I put this installation on my own home about 18 months ago, and was blown away with the performance, the proof is in the pudding (or data)

I have 14x Trina 425W panels
A 3.6Kw inverter (G98, no application or approval needed)
2x 6.5Kw Growatt Storage Batteries.

Currently I take nothing from the grid, obviously weather dependent.
And for May I've had £97 back from my energy provider.

We operate our appliances in the day, so free to run when the sun is shinning 🌞

In the evening, any energy we use is taken from our storage batteries, that are normally full by 10/11am and rearly dip below 50% this time of the year.

We are an Electrical installation Company, not an energy company. We are local, covering South Wales.

So after one of our young lads had his van broken into last night and all his tools stolen.

Matt and Lee from Edmundsons Electrical Wholesales put together a full set of hand tools to get Scott working again. Sold to us at cost and also chucked in a few free bee's.

Thanks Guys, it will not be forgotten.

And I'm sure Scott will be taking his tools out of his van tonight.
