Here at Evans Electrical, we are proud to announce our latest intake of fresh talent:

🤩 13 NEW APPRENTICES!!
🤩 1 MECHANICAL GRADUATE ENGINEER!!

Having just completed their induction day, we wanted to take the opportunity to capture this proud moment (minus a couple of faces which we will share over the coming months).

We would also like to give a BIG THANKS to Rhys Regan (JTL) and the Evans Group Team for their hard work to get to this point and their help and support during the induction day.

We also appreciate the continued support of our partners and clients, who recognise our investment and commitment to Social Value and that it is not simply a ‘Race to the Bottom’ based on finances, but that value can be calculated in many forms…

While we are thrilled to welcome this brilliant group, the reality of bringing them onboard comes at a cost! However, we refuse to let a lack of government strategy or foresight hold back these individuals, because as we all know, they are the future of our industry!❤️

Breaking Barriers: Women in Construction:

We are especially proud to welcome an additional female apprentice, bringing our total to three at site level, alongside and an additional female graduate already within the Group.

The construction and engineering sectors have historically lacked female representation, and we are determined to help change that narrative. True progress requires action, and by bringing these talented individuals into our trade teams, we are actively working to build a more inclusive, diverse, and modern workforce.

At Evans Group, we believe that investing in young people is a responsibility we cannot ignore. By funding these roles internally, we are choosing to bypass systemic hurdles to ensure all 14 individuals get the structured mentorship, hands-on experience, and career foundations they deserve!

Our new cohort brings incredible energy, diverse perspectives, and vital skills to our upcoming projects. We are proud to back them, even when employing people is becoming more difficult for companies in many respects. 🤨

Why do we pour thousands into the next generation of Welsh Sparks (even when it hurts our bottom line)?? 🤔

Most commercial clients and main contractors ask us: "How do you guarantee your labour levels for our projects?" as well as “What social value benefits will your company bring to this project?”

Our answer is simple: We build them from scratch, something we have been proud to be building on for over 30 years, providing local employment and training for young and mature people, providing the local social value that we all desire for our communities, leaving a real and tangible legacy. ❤️

Right now, we are heavily investing in training apprentices across Wales.

Truthfully?

Between wages, mentoring hours, and technical training, it costs our business money upfront!

But we refuse to take the easy route of just continually hiring casual subcontractors or using subcontracting firms, who may not meet the high level of Quality or Health & Safety standards of our clients.

Following on from last week's project video, we wanted to take a closer look at the full scope of works delivered by the Evans Electrical team at the Mermaid Quay Car Park in Cardiff. 🤩

This project involved the installation of a complete electrical infrastructure to support the day-to-day operation, safety and security of the facility, including:

✔️ LV distribution;
✔️ LED lighting and emergency lighting to lighting columns;
✔️ CCTV systems;
✔️ Access control;
✔️ Fire alarm system;
✔️ Containment for future EV charging infrastructure;
✔️ Electrical containment systems throughout;
✔️ Earthing installation;
✔️ Lightning protection;
✔️ Disabled Refuge System;
✔️ Data systems for ticket machines and entry and exit barriers.

Every commercial project relies on the systems behind the scenes to keep people safe, connected and moving efficiently. From power distribution and life safety systems to security and communications infrastructure, our team delivered a high-quality installation that will support the operation of this busy Cardiff landmark for years to come.

Last week, our team visited two local primary schools to share what a day in the life of an electrician looks like.

The highlight... helping the students build their very own circuits! It was incredible to see their problem-solving skills in action and spark an early interest in STEM and the trades. 🤩

Thank you to the schools for such a warm welcome. We might just have some future sparkies on our hands! 🥰

We're delighted to have successfully completed the Cat A electrical installation at John Street, one of Cardiff's most exciting new Grade A office developments! 😍

Working in partnership with JR Smart Developers, our team delivered the complete electrical package, including LV distribution, standby power generation, lighting, life safety systems, security infrastructure and a 39.6kWp solar PV installation, helping create a future-ready, all-electric workplace.

Designed to achieve BREEAM Excellent, EPC A and WELL Silver standards, John Street is setting a new benchmark for sustainable commercial office space.

Soon to become home to around 3,000 Lloyds Banking Group employees, it's a landmark development that will play a key role in Cardiff's continued growth.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in delivering this fantastic project. It's another milestone we're incredibly proud to add to our portfolio. 🤩

Before & After: Solar PV Maintenance in Action!

Evans Energy has been supporting ESP, a nationwide student accommodation provider, with the ongoing inspection, maintenance, and compliance of their Solar PV installations across England and Wales.

While new solar installations often receive the most attention, many existing PV systems across the UK are not maintained regularly, or at all. We're pleased to work with a client that takes the performance and safety of its renewable energy assets seriously.

These before-and-after images highlight the impact that routine cleaning and inspections can have on system performance. Regular maintenance helps maximise energy generation, improve reliability, and identify issues before they become costly problems.

Solar PV systems may be low maintenance, but they should never be no maintenance! ☝

Congratulations to all of our team members who took part in the Dalmatian charity bike ride in support of St David's Hospice Care Dalmatian Bike Ride in Newport on Saturday! 🥰

Despite the challenging weather 😬 and plenty of rain along the route, spirits remained high as everyone came together to raise funds for the incredible work the hospice does in supporting patients and their families. 👏

In addition to taking part in the ride, we were also pleased to donate a range of prizes for the event raffle, helping to raise even more money for this fantastic cause! 😁

A huge thank you to all the organisers, participants, sponsors, and supporters who made the event such a success. We're proud to be involved in initiatives that make a real difference in our local community. 💖

We’d like to give a little shout out to one of our apprentices, Cai James, both in the workplace and on the rugby field. 🏉

Cai has had an outstanding season with Pontypridd RFC, earning an incredible treble of awards:

🏆 Forward of the Year;
🏆 Coaches’ Player of the Year;
🏆 Players’ Player of the Year.

These awards are a testament to Cai’s hard work, commitment, and dedication, qualities that he brings not only to rugby but also to his apprenticeship with us every day.

We’re delighted to once again support the SSt David's Hospice Care Dalmatian Bike Ride this Saturday in Newport, an event we’ve been proud to be involved with for many years!

It’s always fantastic to see the community come together, with riders of all levels taking part and enjoying the day. 😍
