Some of you already know, as I shared the news with my mailing list on Sunday. Thank you for the number of replies since. I've been overwhelmed by your kind words, memories and hearing how much this funny little place has meant to you. I haven't replied to everyone, but I've read them all. ❤️
For everyone else, here it is…
The Emporium will be closing its doors for the final time on Saturday 19th December.
When we opened in November 2022, it was this mad little idea and I couldn't have imagined what it would become.
It was never just a shop.
It became a community. Somewhere friendships were made, people discovered things they didn't know they could do, and weird, wonky and wonderful things were created.
The Emporium has shaped the last four years of my life. It's challenged and exhausted me, made me laugh and occasionally cry, but it's something I'll always be incredibly proud of.
And you are what made it what it became.
Every workshop, purchase, recommendation, shared post and familiar face mattered.
But keeping The Emporium going has taken more from me than I expected. Somewhere along the way I realised I was spending my life keeping the wheels turning rather than building a life I wanted.
I'm ready for quieter things: evenings, weekends and hobbies that don't need to make money.
But this isn't the end of everything.
It's the end of The Emporium in this building and this form. There'll always be something new on the horizon: painting, making and the occasional workshop. I just don't know what that looks like yet. And I'm a actually happy not knowing.
There'll be one final workshop calendar update with a handful of classes. I'm sorry autumn/winter won't be as jam-packed as usual, but I have nearly four years of The Emporium to clear, organise and pack away while making space for whatever comes next.
There are still details to iron out and I'll share those soon.
For now, we've still got workshops, an alarming amount of stuff needing new homes 😂 and one final cosy, chaotic Emporium Christmas.
Thank you for turning my strange little idea into something more meaningful than I imagined. ❤️
Let's make these last few months special. 🌻
