🌿 From overgrown to manageable 🌿

Recently we visited a new customer to carry out a reduction on their overgrown cherry laurel.

The aim was to reduce the height back to approximately the level of the existing wooden trellis within the trees, whilst bringing the overhanging branches back in line with the surrounding wall area.

During our quotation visit, Russ explained that a hard reduction would initially leave some sparse areas whilst the tree regrew. Cherry laurel responds well to this type of pruning and having previously been cut back hard, the customer was happy to proceed 👍🏻

The reduction has allowed more light into both their own and neighbouring gardens, while making the trees a much more manageable size for the future.

We’re looking forward to helping maintain this one as it continues to thicken back up over the coming seasons. 🌱

⚽️🌿 Supporting grassroots football in Carlisle 🌿⚽️

We’re proud to continue our support of Carlisle City FC U12 Girls as lead sponsor for the season ahead.

Watching this team grow over the last few years has been fantastic. They’re a brilliant group of girls who bring plenty of energy, teamwork and determination every time they step onto the pitch (with a fair bit of noise too! 🧤😂).

The squad is still growing and we currently have space for a few more players, including a goalkeeper to complete the team.

A little heart-shaped garden feature gets its annual tidy-up ❤️🌿

One of our regular customers asked us to give their heart-shaped holly bush a refresh. We originally shaped it last year, and it’s been great to see it grow in and keep its shape.

We also gave the rest of the garden’s shrubs and bushes a tidy-up, leaving everything looking neat, healthy and ready for the bank holiday weekend.

We love helping our regular customers keep their gardens looking their best throughout the seasons 🌱

🌳 Creating a little breathing room…

This area had become crowded with trees, so our customer asked us to remove this silver birch to open up the space and reduce the overcrowding.

With future plans to potentially develop the area, we also ground out the stump, leaving a much clearer space ready for whatever comes next.

As always at this time of year, nest checks were completed before any work began. 🐦

This hedge had grown to a height that was becoming difficult to manage, so we carried out a careful reduction to bring it back under control while keeping it looking healthy and natural.

Before starting work, we completed nest inspections at the quotation stage, and again before starting the job, to check for any active bird nests to make sure the work is carried out responsibly.

The hedge is now at a much more manageable height, giving the space a tidier appearance and making future maintenance much easier 🌳

49 stumps removed from around the edge of this garden, creating a much cleaner and more usable space.

What was once a tricky border full of obstacles is now a blank canvas ready for us to return and grass seed the area soon 🌿🌹

Another garden refresh completed 🌿✨

Our customer wanted rid of the borders completely to have zero maintenance needed. These two overgrown borders were in need of some TLC. After clearing back the w**ds giving the areas a thorough tidy, we installed a w**d membrane and finished them off with a fresh gravel finish.

A simple change that makes a huge difference — creating a cleaner, lower-maintenance space that will stay looking good for much longer.

Another big one ticked off the list 🌲

This huge conifer had become a little too much for its surroundings, bordering four different properties and needing to be brought back under control.

Seeing the wooden swing set in the bottom right, you can really appreciate the size of this tree before work began!

We carried out a pre-work nest check to make sure everything was safe to proceed. ✅

The tree was carefully reduced to a more manageable height, with all waste removed and the area left tidy. ✅

Another job completed safely, professionally and with the neighbours in mind. ✅

We’ve had to take on a job for our most demanding customer yet…

❌ No invoice paid
❌ No tea supplied
❌ Keeps changing the plan
❌ Constantly adding “just one more thing” to the list

Even worse… this customer has taken up several weekends and evenings of our time! 🤦‍♂️

Unfortunately, we can’t sack this customer because she happens to be Russ's wife. 😂

It’s been a big transformation from an unused, space of the garden to somewhere we can finally relax and enjoy as a family, and who doesn't love the calming sound of water?!

We’ll share more photos as the project progresses… although we’re not sure the job list will ever actually be finished! 😆
