Who said joinery can't be fun?!

When a local client approached Cubby Joinery with a request for two Custard Cream stools, our team was happy to take on something a little different. The project later expanded to include a bespoke Bourbon bench - all crafted from timber.

Our in-house designer created the biscuit patterns before our CNC machine brought the designs to life, producing a unique set of pieces for the client’s 1950s-themed outbuilding.

The result? Bespoke timber seating with plenty of character - and arguably the perfect accompaniment to a cup of tea.

For an historic building in Jedburgh, the Cubby Joinery team manufactured 35 bespoke timber windows, carefully designed and crafted to match the existing architectural style.

The project included 10 large arched sliding sash windows, some reaching almost 3 metres in height. Once glazed using traditional putty methods, these substantial windows weighed more than 200kg each.

The windows were glazed with Fineo glass from Belgium, while the sliding sash mechanisms incorporated steel weights and chains for the larger windows, with rope and lead weights used on the smaller units.

This was a project where traditional joinery techniques, specialist materials and precision craftsmanship came together to deliver windows sympathetic to the building's original character.

Supporting the communities in which we work and generating tangible social value remains a core part of what we do at Cubby Construction.

This week, we were proud to donate two new C‑Touch interactive screens to St. Cuthbert's Primary and Nursery School in Wigton: an impressive 86‑inch model and a 55‑inch model.

These screens will help enhance digital learning in the classroom and give pupils access to modern, engaging technology. A small contribution that we hope makes a big difference for local learners.
