We’re back at Rockliffe Hall working on another exciting project 🤝

This time, we’re installing a power plant that recovers and recycles heat that would otherwise be wasted. Previously, boilers were required to heat the large volumes of water used throughout the hotel and spa, but this new system will significantly reduce that demand.

The result? Hundreds of thousands of pounds in savings over the next 20 years, alongside a much more sustainable and environmentally friendly way of operating. ✅

Scanlan Construction Ltd is pleased to be progressing multiple projects across Yorkshire and the North East, and we’re excited to share them as they get underway.

📍 Ricknall Mill, situated along the River Skerne

Originally established in the 17th century, with the present mill dating from around 1815, Ricknall Mill holds significant historic value and calls for a careful, considered approach to both preservation and construction.

Our team will be working to sensitively restore and enhance the building, respecting its heritage, character, and craftsmanship throughout.

Projects like this require a balance of technical expertise and appreciation for traditional construction methods — something we take great pride in delivering.

We look forward to helping bring this historic site into its next chapter as a family home.

Today we celebrate our Irish roots and the legacy behind our business. Michael Scanlan, Darragh’s Grandad, worked as a foreman across the UK and overseas—playing a role in major projects and was well known for his strong work ethic and leadership, his values continue to shape how we build today.

Today on National Employee Appreciation Day, I just want to take a moment to say thank you to the people who make Scanlan Construction Ltd what it is.

The hard work, skill and dedication across the team are what drive every project forward.

We are extremely proud of the team we have at Scanlan Construction. The standard of work, the effort everyone puts in, and the way everyone supports each other on our projects never goes unnoticed. The company is only as strong as the people behind it, and we’re very lucky to have such a great team.

As it’s also Women in Construction Week, I’d like to give a special mention to our Office Manager, Christine. Her organisation, leadership and commitment play a huge role in keeping everything running smoothly and she’s a great example of the important role women have in the construction industry.

🚧 New Project Announcement 🚧

We’re excited to begin work on this traditional mid-18th century Grade II listed farmhouse with an attached converted barn, set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Originally dating back to 1750, this charming property is rich in historic character and architectural heritage. Our current programme involves careful demolition works in preparation for the commencement of Phase 2, which will incorporate traditional materials and building methods. This approach ensures the property's original features and integrity are preserved while sensitively bringing it back to life.

Working on listed buildings requires precision, experience, and close collaboration with conservation officers — something our team takes great pride in. It is great to be working with JohnsonClark on another project.

We’re looking forward to breathing new life into this historic farmhouse while respecting its rich past.
