I am not sure how you feel about this but I agree.
A friend of mine raised this and it needs 10k signatures for the government to respond.

I want only "Gas Safe" registered engineers to be allowed to buy regulated gas appliances, that have to be installed by a competent person. The law is only "Gas Safe" registered engineers can fit these but anyone can buy them with no prior check

It is good to always check everything when you do a safety check or a boiler service. I have showed up yesterday to a gas safety check and what do you know meter was loosing gas through the test ni**le. Luckily meter was located outside the building but near the block where the flat was located.
Always call the grid if you smell gas near a meter, turn ECV of and they will do the rest. Yesterday they showed up within 1 hour and changed the meter. Red dot shows where the gas was coming out.

, - turned out in to a

I have been asked to find out what has happened to a on one of our clients. I turned out at the property and found out a 28 year old Potterton .

I found out that fan needs replacement but something didn’t feel right so I opened up the boiler and had a look inside the evacuation route of the flue. I have noticed that seal and connection of the flue was burned. After a brief discussion with the client i realized that they had this issue for a while as carbon monoxide was leaking in to the room and they were feeling dizzy and tired all the time. They thought it is Covid related – so after a PCR test they found out that it wasn’t covid that was causing the dizziness and tiredness but carbon monoxide intoxication.
Outside flue termination was right next to the window so carbon monoxide was coming in through the damaged flue inside the boiler and from the outside as the terminal was right next to the kitchen window.

Client decided to go for a installation, didn’t wanted to take other risks with this boiler and so we fitted a new Ideal Boiler with 10 year warranty

Nothing is ever easy so we had to adapt our installation as there was a metal lintel above the window that blocked our exit. We have used a high level terminal for this boiler to avoid future intoxication.
As long as there is a will there is a way. SNC Group wants to think that saved some lives by finding this major issue and fitting a new boiler that keeps people safe.

If you are in need of an EPC don't hesitate to get in touch

From 1st April 2020, landlords must ensure the Energy Performance Certificates for their lets meet a new standard. This is for new and existing tenancies.
On 1st April 2018, it became a legal requirement for residential landlords to ensure their Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) have a minimum rating of E. The regulations initially only applied for a new tenancy to a new tenant and a new tenancy to an existing tenant. Now, this law has been extended.

An EPC is needed whenever a property is built, sold or rented. All landlords must order an Energy Performance Certificate for potential buyers or tenants before marketing their properties to sell or let.

When is an Energy Performance Certificate required?
EPCs are required as follows for these dwellings:

Individual house/dwelling (e.g. a self-contained property with its own kitchen/bathroom facilities)
In this instance, one EPC is required for the dwelling.

Self-contained flats (e.g. each behind its own front door with its own kitchen/bathroom facilities)
One EPC per flat will be needed.

Bedsits or room lets where there is a shared kitchen, toilet and/or bathroom (e.g. a property where each room has its own tenancy agreement)
No EPC is required.

Shared flats/houses (e.g. a letting of a whole flat or house to students/young professionals etc. on a single tenancy agreement)
One EPC for the whole house is required.

Mixed self-contained and non-self-contained accommodation
One EPC for each self-contained flat/unit, but no EPC for the remainder of the property.

A room in a hall of residence or hostel
No EPC is required.

Basic things that can be done to improve your rating:
- change all lightbulbs with low energy ones
- make sure you have loft insulation at least 250mm
- upvc windows all around the house
- filled cavity of the wall would also be a.massive improvement

Hope that helped.
