4 years running!

We're pleased to have renewed our BM TRADA Q-Mark accreditation for fire door installation for another year. It's an important accreditation for us and recognises the standards we work to when installing fire doors across our projects.

Fire doors are a vital part of a building's fire protection, so getting the installation right really matters. The Q-Mark scheme gives our clients added confidence that our work is being carried out to the required standards.

A big well done to the team for maintaining the standards needed to achieve this accreditation for another year.

A change of scenery for Dexter!

With the busy summer of school projects, we've seconded Kings Group's number one apprentice over to the Fire & Security team for a bit. Dexter says he's found it hard having to do a full day's work... but he's also learnt plenty along the way!

And as if that wasn't enough, he even got to meet a Harris's Hawk while out on site.

Not a bad day at work!

A new lunchtime queue fence for Holyrood Academy.

Part of the summer works at the school, this new spectator-style fencing creates a dedicated queuing area for pupils and gives the space a much cleaner, more organised finish.

The fencing has been finished in RAL 7016 Anthracite Grey, giving it a smart, modern look that should stand up well to plenty of lunchtime traffic!

Another job ticked off before the pupils return in September.

Another large secondary academy has joined us for their fire extinguisher maintenance.

There are more than 170 extinguishers across two sites, all now being looked after by the Kings Group team.

Replacement units have been supplied by CheckFire, and we're also making use of their recycling scheme to make sure the old extinguishers are returned and recycled or disposed of correctly. The crate in the photo is all of the old units ready to head back to CheckFire.

Wardhayes Campus, Okehampton College – summer refurbishment

There's plenty going on at Wardhayes this summer as the team gets two new teaching spaces ready for the new term.

The project includes a brand new cookery classroom, with nine fully equipped cooking spaces for students, along with a new science laboratory with laboratory sinks, services and gas taps for Bunsen burners.

There's also been plenty of work behind the scenes, including new walls and alterations, plastering and making good, new LED lighting, sockets and electrical works, fire doors, decorating and finishing.

The Fire & Security team have also been involved, installing secure door access along with the associated fire and security works.

It's a great example of the different teams across Kings Group working together on one project, from Construction and Electrical through to Fire & Security.

All on programme and ready for the students returning in September.

Do Kings Group Fire & Security do access control? Do we ever!

We're installing 20 access-controlled doors across three schools, including high-security gate locks and video intercom systems.

We're proud to be installing Paxton Access Ltd systems on these projects as a Paxton Partner.

It's a busy summer for the whole team at Kings Group.

With schools closed for the summer holidays, our teams are carrying out a wide range of work across school sites throughout the South West. Over the next few weeks, we'll be showcasing some of the projects we're working on, from refurbishment and electrical work through to fire and security.

To start us off, here's what we've been up to at Holyrood Academy, where we're carrying out refurbishment works for the new Maths Department.

The work includes removing existing walls and constructing new ones, plastering and making good, new LED lighting, sockets and electrical works, fire alarm and security system works, new fire doors and the decorating and finishing works.

There's a lot going on, and we'll be sharing more as the project takes shape.
