Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) installation.
Due to increasingly stringent regulations and a heightened focus on environmental protection, septic tanks are increasingly being replaced by packaged sewage treatment plants (STPs).
STPs offer several advantages over septic tanks, chiefly that their treated discharge can legally enter flowing water if regulations are followed, unlike septic tank discharge, because it meets higher treatment standards.
When there is no watercourse available for discharge, installing an STP that releases into an underground drainfield (not a soakaway, they are completely different) can still be beneficial as it will greatly reduce any environmental impact and can potentially significantly extend the lifespan of the drainfield.

You can’t see what is happening in drains without the aid of CCTV surveying equipment and unfortunately, problems often develop unknown over a considerable amount of time before the fault becomes obvious with flooding on the surface.
If you are lucky, this is an external problem and possibly just an inconvenience. If you are unlucky and the flooding is internal to your property, the results can be devastating.
The first two pictures show the single length of a root mass we removed from the last section of 150mm Ø drain from a school that had suffered years of problems before we were called in to investigate. We removed this and cleared many other areas before permanently rectifying the faults by installing high quality epoxy resin CIPP liners stopping further root ingress. No more flooding.
The third picture shows the 300mm Ø pipe that takes the surface storm water away from a household and commercial waste disposal site. The site has experienced years of problem with one area constantly flooding so we were asked to investigate.
The drains were constantly underwater dirty water, so we had to partially clear the blockage before we could confirm the cause. This picture shows the results of our preliminary work which removed the bulk, but not all the root, the remainder of which we dealt with later.

Historic Boat.
During dredging operations of Poole harbour in 1964, a boat made from a single Oak log dating from about 300 years BC was discovered in the silt. The Poole log boat is one of the largest surviving prehistoric artefacts of its kind in the UK and was for many years preserved in an old road tanker in a sucrose solution.
As the conservation work progressed the boat was removed from the sucrose solution, and we were tasked with undertaking the primary cleaning and removal of the heaviest deposits. This was successfully carried out under the direction and ever watchful eyes of experts from Britain and Norway.
Using very low-pressure warm water, the many years of solution, some of which by this time had crystallised, was removed as the boat was prepared for the next part of its 2300 year journey. The pictures show part of this cleaning operation and a small section of the boat on completion.
Following our work the boat has undertaken many years of further work to preserve it for future generations and is now proudly on display in the Poole Museum.

We were called to investigate a wastewater drain that had been problematic since it was installed during construction of a housing estate.

A CCTV survey revealed that that the drain was poorly laid with displaced joints and bellies causing standing water which was leading to the repeat problems. The only way to rectify this was a full highway excavation and replacement by our crew qualified as operatives and supervisors under the new "New Road and Street Works Act".

This we completed and the drain has caused no further problems and has now been adopted by the local water company.

This was an interesting problem. A spring erupted under a house which as you can imagine was causing major problems.

As this was causing flooding of the road which has a steep incline, in winter the flooding would freeze causing a major hazard. Because of this, we were given permission by the local highway authority to pipe the water to the highway storm drainage.

We constructed a perforated manhole, surrounded by washed 25/40mm stone cased in geotextile membranes which pulled the spring/ground water in. This was then piped across then road to the highway drain by our crew qualified as operatives and supervisors under the "New Road and Street Works Act" and the problem was resolved.

Ultra High Pressure Water Jetting is used to remove hard scale from freshwater production pipework.

Our machine is set to run at 15,000 lbs PSI but by changing the pistons it is possible to run at 40,000 lbs PSI.

The pictures show the machine in use, the before and after of one section of pipe and a pile of the scale to give an idea of the severity of the build-up.

This was part of a project to prevent major flooding in the centre of a large New Forest town centre cause by severe root infestation of the drain which we confirmed using CCTV. This had restricted the flow by up to 90%.

Some of the work involved excavation and the installation of new drainage but where access was difficult, following removal of the root with directional cutting, we installed over 100m of 300mm diameter 4.5mm wall high performance heat cure Epoxy Resin CIPP liner in a single shot. This formed a solid continuous tube that will prevent the problem happening again.

Part of the same job was an old flat based arched culvert running under a main road. This we renovated using a multi-layer polyurethane coated inversion liner made specifically for us by Applied Felts combined with the same heat cure epoxy resin.
