We’re really pleased to welcome Paul Bullock to Hewitt&Carr Services as Quantity Surveyor, strengthening our growing QS team.

Paul is already a familiar face at HCS, having worked alongside us previously, so he joins with a good understanding of our team, our clients and the standards we expect from the work we deliver.

We're looking for an ASSISTANT QUANTITY SURVEYOR to join our growing team.

ADVICE DONE DIFFERENTLY

As part of the wider Hewitt&Carr Group, we provide Quantity Surveying, Project Management and Consultancy services across a broad range of construction and property projects.

This role is ideal for someone in the early stages of their career who is eager to learn, develop practical construction knowledge and gain experience across a variety of projects.

WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT
Many Assistant Quantity Surveyor roles place you in a large team where you're responsible for a small part of the process.

This opportunity is different.

You will work directly alongside our Lead Quantity Surveyor. You'll be involved in real projects, gain practical knowledge of construction and commercial management, and receive mentoring that helps accelerate your professional development.

We're not looking for someone who already knows everything. We're looking for someone who is curious, motivated and wants to build a successful career in the construction industry.

THE ROLE
You will assist with a range of quantity surveying and project support activities, including:
- Cost planning and estimating.
- Measurement and quantification of construction works.
- Tender preparation and procurement support.
- Valuations and cost reporting.
- Contract administration support.
- Site visits and project meetings.
- Assisting clients and project teams with commercial advice.
- Developing an understanding of construction methods, materials and project delivery.

ABOUT YOU
You may already have some experience in a Quantity Surveying role, have recently completed a relevant qualification, or be looking for an opportunity to develop your career within a supportive consultancy environment.

What matters most is your attitude and willingness to learn.

We're looking for someone who:
- Has a Quantity Surveying qualification or relevant industry experience.
- Has a genuine interest in construction and the built environment.
- Is keen to learn from experienced professionals.
- Possesses strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Communicates clearly and professionally.
- Is organised, reliable and proactive.
- Enjoys problem-solving and working as part of a team.
- Wants to develop a long-term career within the industry.

Today we say thank you to a truly wonderful colleague 💚

Carol Goodwin is retiring from her role as Project Manager at Hewitt&Carr Services. Although Carol has been with us for a relatively short time, her impact has been enormous — bringing professionalism, warmth, calm leadership and a genuine care for both projects and people.

We’re incredibly grateful for everything Carol has contributed and wish her a happy, healthy and well-earned retirement. And this isn’t quite goodbye — we’re looking forward to celebrating properly and catching up with her at our summer BBQ ☀️
