BS3621 You may of heard this on the recent TV advert ” Do your locks conform to” Its very simple if you have a wooden front door it will usually have a nightlatch at the top most commonly known as a Yale but many brands exist, Further down the door you should have a mortice deadlock displaying the BS kitemark usually on the face plate. However if your door is upvc or composite it will most likely have a multipoint lock mechanism so no need for a mortice deadlock but you can upgrade the lock cylinder to a British Standard Anti Snap to greatly improve your security. BS3621 is a lock standard by British Standards Institute (BSI) for thief-resistant locks, BS-3621 locks are found on some front and back doors in the home and it’s a good way to check that your security is up to standard. This is why some insurance companies require door locks are fitted to BS 3621 British Standard.
