I do a lot of this work, but I'm particularly proud of this one.
These tiles are a roofers nightmare, but I make them look a dream! With traditionally bedded ridge on white mortar, welded lead chimney flashings and valley saddles. This beats any new build roof all day long.

I felt very safe having a ninja turtle footing my ladder on this one.
Just a nice tidy up on this roof ready for the new owners. Few broken tiles changed, gutter clearing and repairs etc.
No job is too small for me.

Before I discovered watermarks, This photo from 11 years ago, was stolen multiple times across the Internet by other roofing companies claiming it to be their work.
I guess that's quality workmanship for you. 😉

Another very happy customer, you can tell by the look on his face! 😉
They'd been quoted for man made fibre cement slates by another roofer who had done multiple repairs on this roof over a few years, but they really wanted a natural slate finish. So I worked with them to keep the cost as close to the original quote but provide my usual quality service.
Turns out after all the repairs, the main issue was a blocked down pipe coming down from the main roof, meaning a huge spill of rain water that was overwhelming the secret gutter down the abutment wall.
You can see from the pictures it's a rather messy roof from all the repairs.
Now it's completely water tight and fully guaranteed also!
New Spanish slate, copper fixings, ventilation system, all new membrane and treated battens and of course the beautiful lead stepped flashing up the wall to avoid any further water ingress. Did you notice the chimney had disappeared also!? 😆
I moved the main Roof gutter down pipe and re ran the guttering to fall the other way too! The less water you can have coming onto a roof, the better.

Little bit of maintenance on this property in great notley this week.
Leaky flat roof replaced with a 3 layer high performance torch down bitumen felt with a black mineral finish.
A new mineral cap sheet to the bay window canopy and the flappy cladding swapped out for a fresh new cedral vertical click clad in a smooth anthracite finish.
Chimney is no longer falling apart!! 😉
Cement verges on the porch roof re cemented, lead falling out the wall is now secure and a few other bits including sealing the window reveals and brickwork repairs around the entire property.

😠 *FOAM LOFT INSULATION*

Have you got foam insulation within the rafters of your loft space?
We all know the waterproofing properties of spray foam, many people pump into holes and never have a leak again.
Now imagine a whole roof covered from the inside with this stuff!!
You may have leaks, like this property below, but you won't know until the wooden tile battens and rafters rot out leaving your roof tiles suspended on just foam! The tiles won't fall out either because they're all stuck together like a giant sheet!!
A roof and it's tiles need to have the ability to expand and contract during all weather conditions, and foam insulation installed incorrectly will completely stop this!!
Look below at the wooden rafters and how damp they all are once we had removed the spray foam!
The front of the property was so bad, that during the roofing work, part of the ceiling fell down unexpectedly due to rot!

Today's version of this insulation, if installed correctly, with the right backing and correct tools, can be a good thing. I'd still never have it mind.

If you have foam insulation and you're worried, get in touch, many companies won't touch it, and if they do, they'll charge the earth, which is understable because its awful. But although more work is involved to remove it, I'm very efficient at it and will charge reasonably and accordingly.
