Due to the hot temperatures, uPVC and composite doors will experience expansion. Dark coloured doors are particularly impacted by the heat.
This can cause doors to feel tight, catch slightly on the frame, or become more difficult to lock during the hottest parts of the day.
This is a common seasonal issue and, in most cases, is TEMPORARY. We recommend avoiding excessive force on handles or locking mechanisms and ensuring the door is fully closed before lifting the handle to lock.
Modern uPVC and composite doors are designed with adjustable hinges and locking systems, allowing minor seasonal movement to be corrected where required.
If your door continues to catch or becomes difficult to operate (after the heatwave) our team can arrange an inspection and adjustment to restore smooth operation.
