My 3rd job at this caravan park, removing 26 big whoppers with the FSI B31-980!

Situated right on the banks of the River Wear, and not too far from its source, this was a challenging one. In places it felt more like grinding stumps on a cobbled riverbed than a caravan park. Over thousands of years, the river has changed course, leaving behind countless stones and rocks beneath the surface.

It was tough on both the machine and the operator, with plenty of digging and clearing needed before grinding could begin. We even sacrificed a few teeth along the way!

That said, the location is absolutely stunning. The staff and owners are always welcoming, and it’s a pleasure to play a small part in the ongoing development of such a beautiful site.

Another big stump tackled today, and it didn’t take long with the B31-980!

A little awkward due to the chain-link fencing nearby. Catch that in the cutting wheel and you’ll be spending the next few hours cutting wire out of the teeth. Of course, that never happens to me… 🙄 Honest!

Thankfully, this one went smoothly and the stump was soon out of the way, allowing the landscaping works to continue. The client is creating a low-maintenance garden with w**d membrane and decorative aggregate, so getting rid of the stump was an important first step.

Sorry, no after photos on this one. I was keen to let the lads crack on and get the next stage underway rather than hanging about taking pictures!

Job 2 involved tackling multiple troublesome stumps that had been left to cause problems for years, lifting paving and making parts of the garden virtually unusable.

This is exactly the type of work we specialise in. Large stump, small stump, awkward access or roots causing damage—we have the equipment and experience to get the job done properly.

Job 1 took us over to Sunderland to remove a medium-sized sycamore tree, allowing the client to move forward with their garden transformation plans, including a summer house, paving and landscaping.

A straightforward job for us, but one that would be difficult and time-consuming without the correct equipment and experience. With the right machinery and a well-planned approach, the tree was removed safely and efficiently, leaving the area ready for the next stage of the project. 🌳➡️🏡

Gosforth today for this substantial beech stump, over a metre in diameter with large exposed roots.

A cracking job by Liam and the lads from Timmins Tree Surgery, expertly dismantling and removing the tree before we arrived to tackle the stump.

This one had to be fully removed, as it sat directly on the foundation line of a large extension. Leaving any significant stump or root material wasn’t an option, so we ground well below ground level to ensure the area was clear for the builders to commence excavation works.

The FSI B31-980 was pushed beyond its standard grinding depth, but experience makes all the difference. An experienced operator knows how to safely ramp down, work around the root flare and maximise the machine’s capabilities to achieve the required depth when conditions allow.

Another stump completely removed and a site ready for the next stage of construction. 💪🌳

The client needed this stump removed today. With underground services nearby and the potential for damage if it was ripped out, stump grinding was the safest option.

Obliterated.

This sloping area was full of old shrub and hedge stumps after the client had cleared the vegetation themselves.

Rather than chasing individual stumps, I recommended a blanket grind across the entire area. This removes all the remaining stump material and major roots, leaving a clean, level surface ready for the next stage of the project.

The client can now install their new fence, lay w**d membrane and add decorative gravel without old stumps causing problems in the future.

Millions of stumps… well, not quite! 😄

Spent today surveying a huge property with stumps everywhere. Most of the trees and shrubs have already been removed, but the real challenge comes next.

We’ve got stumps tight against walls, inside raised beds, between paving, and plenty hidden amongst rocks, bricks and old landscaping materials.

These are the jobs where experience and the right machinery make all the difference.

The property itself sits on a massive plot with so much potential once the ground is cleared and ready for the next stage of development.
