A crack can tell you something has changed, but is it still moving? 📏

Movement Monitoring Surveys are used to track changes in buildings, structures and land over time.

At Cheshire Surveys, permanent markers can be installed at carefully selected locations before repeat measurements are taken at agreed intervals. By comparing those measurements over weeks, months or even years, movement can be recorded down to the millimetre.

Monitoring can be particularly useful for buildings and walls showing cracks, bulging or bowing, structures close to construction activity, and areas where subsidence or ground movement is a concern.

We provide the accurate monitoring data, which can then be analysed by structural or geotechnical engineers to understand what’s happening and determine any next steps.

The plans show what was designed. An As-Built Survey records what was actually built. 🏗️📐

Once construction is complete, an accurate record of the finished development can be just as important as the information gathered before work began.

An As-Built Survey records the completed site and can be used to compare what has been constructed with the proposed plans, as well as providing accurate, up-to-date information for future plans and project requirements.

Because surveying doesn’t always finish when construction does.

From the first measurements to the finished development, accurate data matters at every stage.

In England and Wales, most title plans show the general position of a property’s boundaries, rather than pinpointing the exact legal boundary line.

And what you see on the ground isn’t always definitive either. Fences, walls and hedges can help indicate where a boundary lies, but they don’t automatically establish the exact legal boundary.

This is why relying on the title plan alone, or simply assuming an existing fence marks the boundary, can cause confusion, particularly when buying or selling property or when ownership needs to be clarified.

Where greater clarity is needed, accurate surveying of the physical features on site can provide important information to consider alongside the property’s title documents.

Property boundaries aren’t always as straightforward as they seem 🏡

Wheather your buying or selling a property, or dealing with inheritance matters, it’s important to understand exactly what land is included within the legal boundary.

A boundary check survey compares the physical features on site with the property’s title plans, helping to identify whether everything matches as expected.
