A valuable site visit with the team at Wildfire this week, seeing the progress coming together across project waterside.

The interiors are now being decorated, with the finer details beginning to take shape.

Externally, the project is really showing its strength. The setting, structure and finish are working together beautifully, highlighting the character of the home and its connection to the water.

It is always rewarding to see a project at this stage, where the hard work, planning and collaboration behind the scenes begin to become visible.

Waterside properties require a particular level of care, experience and understanding.

From coastal homes to properties positioned around rivers, lakes and harbours, LGM brings practical knowledge to projects where location, access, materials and long-term durability all matter.

Our experience in waterside construction means we understand the details that help protect, enhance and make the most of these unique settings, creating homes that feel considered, well-built and connected to their surroundings.

Materials are never just a finishing touch, and picking the right materials is just as important as the build itself for longevity, durability and a home that fits well into it's setting.

Choosing means understanding the environment the home is being built in, but also working closely with the architect and client to ensure every decision feels considered and aligned.

A waterfront home demands durability against the elements. A rural setting calls for materials that sit naturally within the landscape. But in both cases, it’s a collaborative process, balancing performance, aesthetics, and the way the client wants to live.

Because it’s never just about picking a material. It’s about getting it right, together.

Design is opening up.

More light, more space and more connection to what’s outside.

We are seeing it become more often than not where we see homes are being shaped around their surroundings, not separated from them, with flowing layouts, wide openings, and spaces that extend naturally into the outdoors.

The result is always a success, with brighter living, better wellbeing, and a home that feels connected in every sense.

Large, open interiors can easily feel cold or disjointed.

Here, the volume is balanced by proportion, finish and lighting strategy.

Each element supports the architectural intent rather than competing with it.

Good construction does not draw attention to itself, it allows the design to speak clearly.

Most people fall in love with the finished space, but the real quality lives in post 2.

Before the plaster, the flooring, the paint.

From structural steels to insulation detailing, the unseen stages are what determine how a home performs for decades.

At this property the architecture has been carefully detailed to respond to its coastal setting. A soft, durable material palette was selected to withstand the elements whilst creating a relaxed space for family life and entertaining.

This refurbishment brought together the main house, a new pool house, swimming pool and landscaped gardens, forming a series of outdoor spaces designed to be enjoyed throughout the seasons.

From HardiePlank cladding and Millboard composite decking to porcelain paving and carefully considered planting, each material was chosen for both performance and longevity in a coastal environment.

Delivered in collaboration with a talented team of specialists, the project reflects the value of thoughtful design, quality materials, and skilled craftsmanship working together.
