DAY 2 WHEN THE FLOOR CHANGES THE PLAN 👀

This 85m² garage was originally specified for a high-build epoxy paint system… but once we’d completed the full diamond grind and applied our DPM primer, the concrete told us a different story.

Thousands of pinholes became visible across the entire floor.

Rather than pushing ahead with the original specification and compromising the finished result, we discussed the options with the customer and made the decision to pivot to a full broadcast flake system.

Today consisted of:

🔹 Extensive pinhole filling
🔹 Full sand & preparation
🔹 Thorough clean
🔹 Base coat application
🔹 Full flake broadcast

And this is where this job got interesting… 👀

We had a selection of leftover flake from previous projects, so rather than waste it, we mixed our own custom blend of white, grey and black.

And we’ve officially named it…

THE GI JOE BLEND 🪖🔥

Almost a grey camouflage effect and it’s come out absolutely stunning.

This is also a perfect example of where a full broadcast flake system really comes into its own. Concrete is rarely perfect, and flake is fantastic for disguising pinholes, repairs, colour variations and other imperfections in the substrate, while creating an incredibly durable and seamless finished floor.

Sometimes being a flooring specialist isn’t about blindly sticking to the original plan it’s about understanding the concrete in front of you and choosing the system that’s going to produce the best result.

Tomorrow: scrape, clean & polyaspartic topcoat.

Then we’ll get to see the GI Joe Blend in all its glory. 🪖👀🔥

Today we worked on this beautiful hand-poured, handcrafted polished concrete coffee table. 🤌

We’re still a long way from the finished piece, but this is where the craftsmanship really starts to show carefully shaping the edges, forming the chamfers and working through every detail by hand before the polishing stages begin.

There’s something seriously satisfying about taking raw concrete and slowly turning it into a completely bespoke piece of furniture.

Plenty more work to go on this one… but it’s already starting to come to life. 👀

400m². Two commercial units. Years of coatings. One serious transformation. 🔥

This one really put our kit and us to the test.

Two 200m² commercial units, both buried under years and years of old coatings, with sections containing multiple layers of self-levelling compound. Getting these floors back to a solid, clean substrate took some serious preparation.

I can’t take all the credit for this one either. Joe and Cieran did me a massive solid and stepped in while I was off to get this one finished. 👊

That’s what having a good team around you is all about. Everyone pulling together, getting stuck in and getting the job over the line when it matters.

And what a result.

Where these floors started compared to where they ended is unbelievable. 🔥

The finished floor is only ever as good as the preparation underneath it and this one proves it.
