The Association of Lorry Loader Manufacturers and Importers (ALLMI) was founded in 1978 at the request of the Health and Safety Executive, and it remains today as the UK’s only Trade Association devoted exclusively to the lorry loader industry. It serves, represents and promotes the interests of its members and the industry at large, and it is the natural focus and authority on all issues involving the design, manufacture, application and use of lorry loaders.

Today is Global Lifting Awareness Day (GLAD) 2026!

ALLMI is a proud partner for GLAD, a collaboration between a range of organisations involved with lifting or working at height. GLAD’s aim is to promote the lifting industry, generally looking at good practice, compliance, innovation, and recruitment, but with particular emphasis this year on the subject of lifting equipment procurement.

We have added to our range of industry Guidance Notes with the publication of ‘GN036 Timber Handling Cranes’.

Produced in consultation with the ALLMI Technical Standards Committee, the guidance is primarily aimed at those who import, install, thoroughly examine, or own and operate timber handling cranes, although it will also be of interest to anyone deemed as a duty holder under LOLER or PUWER.

We have added ‘Proximity to Slopes’ to the ALLMI App’s range of calculator tools. The tool assists those planning lifting operations by providing guidance for the positioning of stabiliser legs when operating near a slope (taking account of mat size), so that stability is not compromised.
