A Power Factor Correction system can be easy to overlook once it’s been installed and quietly left to run in the background.

If it’s not maintained, the system can degrade over time. Your site will still run and the equipment will still appear to be working, but the correction is no longer happening properly, which means higher current draw, reduced efficiency, and the potential return of reactive power charges that were supposed to have been dealt with.

Without monitoring or regular inspection, those issues can sit unnoticed for a long time, slowly undoing the value of the original installation.

If it has been a while since your PFC system was checked, it’s worth finding out whether it is still performing as expected, or whether it has been quietly slipping out of line.

With the UK’s largest maintenance fleet, EnergyAce can help assess, maintain, and restore your system so it continues to deliver what it was installed for.

Most sites have a breakdown of their energy use, but very few have a clear view of what it is actually telling them.

Remote monitoring changes that by turning energy use into something you can actually see, track, and act on in real time, rather than something you review after the fact.

It gives you a clearer picture of where energy is being used, when demand peaks, how your site is behaving day to day, and whether changes you have made are delivering the results you expected.

Most conversations about Voltage Optimisation start and end with energy savings, which makes sense because that is the easiest outcome to measure, but it is rarely the only one that matters once you look at how a site actually operates over time.

When voltage is consistently higher than equipment needs, it can also contribute to unnecessary stress on electrical components, shorten asset lifespan, and gradually increase maintenance requirements.

There is also the carbon angle to consider, because reducing energy consumption at source feeds directly into lower emissions without needing to change how the site functions day to day.

If you are only looking at VO through the lens of cost savings, you are probably missing part of the picture.

EnergyAce can help you understand how Voltage Optimisation fits into the wider performance of your site, not just your energy bill.

Congratulations to the Electrical Contractors' Association (ECA) Northwest Region team on their success at the ECA National Golf Championship 2026.

Held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Belfast Templepatrick, the championship brings together golfers from ECA regions across the UK and is recognised as one of the association's premier sporting events.

We're pleased to share that the Northwest Region team returned home with the Chairman's Cup - awarded for the best overall team performance.

As Northwest Regional Chair, EnergyAce Managing Director Gary Vizard was proud of the team's success and to see the region represented so strongly.

Team members included:
Nick Johnson (Team Captain)
Steve Murray
Jim Keenan
Stuart Thompson
Brian Bower
Dewi Thomas

A big thank you to the event sponsors, CEF and Schneider Electric, along with the Northwest team kit sponsorship provided by both Edmundson Electrical Preston Branch and Schneider Electric.

Congratulations to everyone involved, and good luck in defending the trophy next year.

Not every site uses electricity in the same way, which is why Power Factor Correction works best when it is designed around how your operation actually runs.

A site with a steady load will behave very differently from one where equipment is constantly switching on and off throughout the day, and that difference matters when choosing the right solution.

In some cases, a simpler setup will do the job well.
In others, a more responsive system is needed to keep pace with changing demand and maintain the right level of correction.

That is why PFC should be built around the site, rather than treated as a standard box to install and forget.

If you’re not sure what’s right for your setup, we can help you find the right PFC solution for the way your site actually operates. Get in touch!

Your incoming voltage can sit comfortably within UK limits and still be higher than your equipment actually needs.

Many sites are supplied at the upper end of the allowed range, which means voltage-dependent equipment pulls more energy than necessary, all day, every day.

This means that your equipment:
- Costs more to run
- Runs hotter than it should
- Wears out more quickly

Voltage Optimisation addresses that by bringing supply closer to what your equipment actually requires, rather than what the grid happens to deliver.

If you’ve never looked at your site voltage properly, there is a decent chance you are overloading your equipment and paying for energy you did not need to use in the first place.
