Did you know a single halogen lamp in your home could be costing you £12 per year more than it should?

Now think about how many lamps you have in your home, and how long you’ve lived there…

In a time when a lot of us are tightening our belts, old Halogen lamps could be putting a big dent in your pocket. Here’s why:

Halogen lamps use 10x more power than LED – so if you use a lamp for 5 hours a day, it’ll cost you ~£12 per lamp more with Halogen annually (assuming 15p per KwH)
Halogen lamps have a shorter lifespan vs LED (2,500 hours vs. 25,000 hours) – meaning 10 lamp replacements will be required in the lifespan of 1 LED
Halogen lamps won’t be around much longer due to their environmental impact – meaning replacement is inevitable
Factoring in the cost to replace each lamp by a professional, the payback period per lamp is 3 years based only on electricity savings – not even including the many Halogen lamp replacements you’d need across that timeframe.

In addition, according to Zoopla, the average Brit only moves home once every 23 years – meaning many years of unnecessary overspending if you don’t make a change today.

Calling all landlords and tenants. The new Electrical Safety Standards in the Private Rented Sector come into force on 1 July.These rules will apply to all new tenancies from 1 July 2020 and all existing tenancies by 1 April 2021.
The Electrical Safety Regulations will legally require landlords to:• Have the electrical installations in their properties inspected and tested by a person who is qualified and competent, every five years or change of tenancy
• Provide a copy of the report (known as the Electrical Installation Safety Condition Report or EICR) to their tenants, managing agent and to the local authority if requested within 30 days
• Ensure that electrical safety standards are met during any period of a tenancy
