We'd like to persuade NASA to do this by inviting you to write a short final message to the future here. To make it easy to send the messag
e it will need to be less than 1000 characters long, (about the length of seven tweets). It will need to be beamed to the twin Voyager spacecraft before their onboard electrical power runs out in the mid 2020s. This Facebook campaign will collect messages from the public, with the hope of persuading NASA to select one to send to both spacecraft before contact is lost. We believe there’s really no reason why such a message can’t be written by an impartial representative from the human race, so we’re inviting suggestions from anyone who would like to contribute a thought. This page includes information about the Voyager missions and what they have achieved since leaving Earth in 1977. This page will automatically add your details to our petition database, which will be presented to NASA in the year 2020.
