Garage conversions need the right screed spec
Turning a garage into a living space? The floor build-up matters more than most people expect, mainly because garage slabs sit lower than the house and often aren't insulated at all.
Get the levels wrong and you'll end up with a step down into the room, or a ceiling height that feels cramped once everything's built up.
A few things worth sorting before screed goes down:
Insulation thickness needs checking against your finished floor level, especially where it meets the existing house threshold.
Underfloor heating is worth considering at this stage. It's far easier to include now than retrofit later.
Lightweight screed can help where floor buildup height is tight, without sacrificing strength.
We do free site visits across Bristol and the wider UK to work out the right spec before anything's ordered. What's driving your conversion, extra living space, a home office, or a rental unit?
