It’s all go in the valley this morning loading up for an early delivery . In a world where rising oil prices can affect rural areas harshly, in-particular with diesel prices and the absolutely bloody stupid heating oil prices, ( those particularly affect me). Just letting you know that we at Hodder valley logs we are not putting the prices up on our logs , coal or kindling . So please support local where you can and use good old logs and coal to heat what rooms you can whilst we wait for the central heating oil prices to come down.

What Makes Kiln‑Dried Firewood Better

Kiln drying forces moisture out of the wood in a controlled environment, bringing it down to a consistently low level. That single change affects almost every part of how the log performs.

🔥Higher heat output = more warmth per log
Low‑moisture wood burns hotter and faster, giving off stronger, more reliable heat. Customers feel the difference immediately: quicker room warm‑up, longer‑lasting embers, and less need to constantly top up the stove.

🔥Cleaner burn = less smoke, less soot, less mess
Damp wood smoulders. Kiln‑dried wood ignites cleanly, producing minimal smoke and fewer particulates. That means clearer glass on the stove door, less ash, and a more enjoyable fire.

🔥Better for your stove and chimney
Moisture is the main cause of creosote build‑up. Kiln‑dried logs dramatically reduce this, helping protect chimneys, flues, and liners; lowering the risk of chimney fires.

🔥Consistent quality all year round
Seasoned wood depends on weather and time. Kiln‑dried wood is controlled, measured, and predictable. Every crate or bag delivers the same performance, whether it’s July or January.

🔥Easier to light, perfect for busy homes
With moisture removed, logs catch quickly and burn steadily. No frustration, no wasted kindling, no endless relighting.

🔥Better for the environment
A cleaner burn means fewer emissions and better efficiency. You get more heat from fewer logs, reducing overall consumption.

🌲 Why It Matters for Hodder Valley Logs Customers
People rely on their stoves for comfort, atmosphere, and often primary heat. Kiln‑dried logs give them:
• Reliable warmth
• A cleaner, safer burn.
• Less smoke drifting across gardens and neighbours
• A premium, hassle‑free fire every time

It’s not just firewood, it’s a better experience from the first spark to the final ember

Out here in the Hodder Valley, evenings have a way of settling gently.

The light drops behind the fells, chimneys begin to whisper, and somewhere in a warm kitchen a pan is simmering for a romantic meal, a family dinner or just a plate for one, but one thing is for sure any meal tastes better when the fire’s glowing and the world feels a little slower.

We might not have been in your faces with our weekly videos lately, but we’ve never gone far.

We’re still here on the lanes, loading the van or trailer, stacking the logs, keeping the rounds going. Still loving what we do, still proud to warm the homes and businesses that make this valley feel like every evening is a romantic one.

If tonight calls for a cosy fire, a shared meal, or just a quiet moment by the hearth, we’re here for it and for you.

Logs stocked, hearts full, and the kettle always ready. Sending a Hodder Valley Logs love 🧡💛❤️

One thing about having children in primary school is the random theme days. And did you know today is National Winnie the Pooh Day, nor did I until this morning!

So if schools are celebrating here is a little nod to friendship the real kind, the steady kind, the kind that grows with you through every season.

Alex and I first met at Myerscough College back in 1998, two sixteen‑year‑olds with muddy boots, big plans, and absolutely no idea where life would take us.

All these years later, we’re working side by side here in the Hodder Valley, proving that the best partnerships are built on kindness, trust, and the courage to be different. 💪

Just like the characters in the Hundred Acre Wood, we each bring our own strengths, quirks, and ways of seeing the world. And that’s exactly what makes this place and this business what it is.

Friendship, after all, isn’t about being the same. It’s about celebrating the differences that make each person who they are, and finding joy in the journey you share.

So here’s to good friends, good logs, and the simple, steady warmth that keeps us all going 🔥

and what Winnie the Pooh Character do you think we are?
