Old gas boiler out, new heat pump in ✅

Another customer had their old gas boiler replaced with an air source heat pump.

Thanks to the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant and 0% VAT, the new heat pump installation had been cheaper for the customer than a comparable system boiler swap.

As always we also installed a brand new, high gain heat pump cylinder and the customer can now enjoy mains pressure showers without the noisy and unreliable shower pump 🚿.

This system had been designed to work directly with the existing microbore heating system, yet still achieves excellent heat pump performance. No messy pipework replacement ✅

Heat pumps and hot water cylinders🌡️🌀💧

We often get asked: how long will I have to wait for that cylinder to heat up?

Well, in case of this 200L cylinder it's exactly 48 minutes. From 20 Deg C to 50 Deg C.

Secondly we get asked: hnd how much does this hot water cost me?

Heat pump consumed 2.5kWh of energy during this specific heating cycle. If you're paying £0.20/kWh that would cost you £0.50. There are heat pump dedicated tariffs which have rates as low as 7p/kWh.

What's also worth noting is that the heat pump generated 7kWh of heat. That means it was 280% efficient or had a Coefficient of Performance of 2.8.

In comparison to gas boiler. Of the average boiler is 85% efficient, it would require 8.2kWh of gas. With average price around £0.07/kWh it would cost £0.57.

Heat pumps can be cheaper to run than gas boilers, when correctly designed, installed and configured.

Replacing your gas boiler with a heat pump has many benefits, one of them is cooling function to beat the overheating of your home.

An air to water heat pump can provide:
🛁 domestic hot water - directly through a Heat Geek combi tank or indirectly via conventional hot water cylinder
🌡️ central heating delivered through radiators or underfloor heating
❄️ comfort cooling via hydronic fan coil units

There are some system specifics to the cooling function and these are:
💧 separate hydronic circuit for the fun coil units - thoroughly insulated pipework to avoid condensation on pipes;
🌀 Fan coil units used to deliver cooling via chilled water - these devices have a heat exchanger and a condensation drain;
