Changed out a shower switch this week that had failed. It had got so hot from arcing due to loose connections a terminal melted from the switch. Thankfully on this occasion there was no fire but does highlight the importance of getting your electrical system tested.

When should I get an electrical installation condition report? (EICR)

For home owners it’s recommended at least every 10 years for landlords it’s mandatory to have a property test at least every 5 years.

Another recent installation for a brand new garden office.

From the start, we spent time communicating with the customer to fully understand their needs and how the space would be used. This allowed us to create a detailed electrical design that ensures everything is safe, compliant with regulations, and practical for everyday use.

All certification was provided and Building Control sign-off has been completed. ✔️

Projects like this are always really enjoyable to work on — taking a space from an idea through to a fully functional, safe installation that the customer can make the most of.

A customer wanted to an extra socket fitted in their home office without the bother of opening up floors and ceilings to add cables, and to avoid the additional repairs and redoing decoration.

As there’s always a solution I fitted outside conduit to take the power from a socket located in the lounge. By using the laser level I could fit the socket in a different room and could ensure the socket was fitted at the same height, enabling me to keep the conduit outside level.

Be careful with who you choose to do any electrical work. Many people can get electrics to work, but not necessarily safe. Using a competent electrician will ensure that the work carried out not only works but also ensure the electrical work is safe with testing equipment.

I recently had to rewire an entire bedrooms down lights as no earth (cpc) as all earths were cut out even tho earthing to every light point has been a requirement since the 14th edition of the wiring regulations back in 1966

I also fitted new down lights as the ones fitted were not rated.

And there was light!!

Love a little fault finding job. Customers hall light wasn’t working. Had the fault diagnosed in under a minute, the issue was no switch live. Safely isolated the lights took switches off and found the problem in the wiring behind one of the switches. Re terminated the switch cables, power back on, tested and handed back to the customer fixed😊

Nice light upgrade this afternoon to match in with the front door. Fitted with a dusk til dawn sensor so the light is just left on and will automatically switch on and off as the sun sets and rises again the next morning 😊
