A year on, and the progress speaks for itself 👏

This before and after drone comparison highlights just how far this care home project with Apex Contractors Limited has come since works began.

Designed as a purpose-built care home, this large and complex structure has required careful coordination throughout, particularly with its curved and angled layout. Milbank Concrete Products has supplied 150mm hollowcore planks across multiple levels, alongside T225 beam and block and four stair cores.

Collaboration has been key on this project. From working closely with engineers and architects to resolve design challenges, to adapting installation methods on site, including splitting stair units to overcome crane lifting limitations in certain areas.

A great example of how planning, flexibility, and teamwork supports the progress on complex builds.

A great reminder that every project starts long before installation, with careful coordination, precision manufacturing and a team keeping everything moving.

Milbank Concrete Products is proud to have played a key role in the delivery of Trocoll House, a landmark 29-storey build-to-rent development in Barking, East London.

Working alongside long-term client Oliver Connell, we were appointed to design, manufacture and supply precast concrete columns for levels 7 to 29 of the tower.

Delivering 198 apartments, Trocoll House is a significant addition to the area’s ongoing regeneration and evolving skyline. Designed by Farrells, with structural engineering by Manhire Associates and delivered by HG Construction, the project showcases the benefits of a reinforced concrete frame solution enhanced with precast elements at upper levels.

From precision manufacturing to efficient installation, our team worked collaboratively to meet the demands of this high-rise scheme.

This week marks World Day for Safety and Health at Work. A timely reminder that in precast concrete, safety is not a one-day conversation. It’s part of every lift, every load, every installation and every working day.

The UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard represents a landmark shift, moving beyond design-stage modelling to set science-based, mandatory limits on both upfront embodied carbon and operational energy. Part Z, meanwhile, is pushing for enforceable upfront carbon limits across all major building projects. Together, they're reshaping how we design, specify, and build.

Representing Milbank on the panel will be our Managing Director, Lee Cowen, who has been driving our own net zero journey since joining in 2023, with a clear target of achieving net zero operations by 2030. From reducing embodied carbon in our precast concrete products to fostering a people-first culture that delivers for our communities, Lee brings both the operational reality and the ambition this discussion deserves.

A huge milestone to celebrate 👏

Congratulations to Kirby Tuthill on 25 years with Milbank!

Kirby has dedicated his career to hands-on roles, from assembling powerboat and yacht hulls earlier on, to playing a key part in producing the mixes that keep our factory running today.

Known for his reliability, hard work and great attitude, Kirby is a valued member of the team and a pleasure to work with.
