A cottage kitchen, where every inch had to earn its place.

For this recent project in Maldon, the brief was clear. More storage. More worktop space. But no wall units that would make this compact room feel smaller.

So we looked at the space differently.

Thoughtful cabinetry creates far more useful storage at a lower level, while the extended worktop gives more room for preparing, serving and simply living in the kitchen. Keeping the walls open allows the room to breathe, preserving that sense of space that matters so much in a smaller home.

And because this is a cottage, character mattered just as much as practicality. The finished design feels warm, considered and entirely at home within the property.

More storage. More surface space. No unnecessary clutter.

Proof that a smaller kitchen doesn’t have to mean compromising on how beautifully it works.
