Update 📣
The other insurance company has accepted full liability and allowed me to remove the step and rear bumper to inspect the damage. The process so far has been incredibly easy if not a bit stressful! I wasn’t willing to just give in and accept it as a write off!
Massive Shout out to RJ Fowler in Milkwall for allowing me to just rock up and get it all off for me and to FCBC for having a look at the damage and hopefully providing a quote for repairs.
I’m not out of the woods just yet, originally their insurance wanted to write the van off as a total loss due to the age of the van and the cost of repairs (how they decide this over the phone is beyond me) but I’ve managed to negotiate that I will lose the back step and parking sensors to reduce the costs. It still might fall into a total loss if both back doors are required as they are £900 each bare, then they have to be painted, labour and the bumper might push it over threshold 🙈
I’m praying that it can be repaired, so far the chassis and the floor inside are looking perfect! If not I’ll buy it back and get it repaired!
So as it stands I’m fully back up and running for the minute even if we’re looking a bit tatty, hire van will be provided in either instance of repair or loss! ❤️
The main thing is we are all ok!
