Breathing new life into this early 19th century dwelling ✨

Our transformative Whitelands project completely reimagined the internal layout to create more light filled spaces that had a stronger connection to the outdoor surroundings.

By relocating the kitchen and living areas to the southern end of the home, removing internal walls and creating an impressive 8m glazed opening, the heart of the property was transformed into one expansive open-plan space filled with natural light and panoramic countryside views.

Outside, the design continues with a beautifully crafted two-tiered patio featuring porcelain tiling, planter walls and a sunken seating area beneath an oak pergola — creating an effortless flow between indoors and out.

Set within the landscape of County Antrim, Wedge House was carefully designed to maximise panoramic views towards Portmore Lough and the surrounding countryside.

This modern home is centred around an open plan kitchen area which features double height living space and opens onto an evening patio perfect for summer BBQs.

These semi-detached homes on the North Coast were carefully designed to respond to their exceptional coastal setting, with uninterrupted views across Portstewart Strand, Mussenden Temple, and towards County Donegal.

Arranged over three levels, each property mirrors the other in plan and form, while extensive glazing was incorporated throughout to maximise natural light and frame the surrounding landscape. The main living spaces and top-floor master suites were positioned to take full advantage of the panoramic coastal views.

Accessibility was a key part of the design, with private elevators integrated into each home to ensure every level can be enjoyed by all visitors. To the rear, first-floor garden terraces create sheltered sun traps — perfect for long summer evenings and BBQs by the coast.

Meet the Team Mondays

This week, we’re introducing Annita, one of our talented Architectural Designers at Healy McKeown Architects.

With a strong foundation in Civil Engineering and a passion for creating spaces that feel grounded, purposeful and personal she offers first-hand insight, guiding clients from initial consultation through to planning and building control.

Annita has a particular interest in vernacular dwellings and rural architecture, with a design approach that thoughtfully blends traditional character with modern functionality. Her work is shaped by an appreciation for how people live, how places evolve, and how good design can quietly transform both.

Designed to transform a once vacant gap site, this contemporary 1.5-storey home demonstrates how thoughtful architecture can unlock the full potential of a challenging narrow plot while carefully preserving privacy and amenity.

Comprising three pitched blocks interconnected by sleek flat roof links, the property gracefully steps back through the site, creating a subtle frontage while maximising panoramic countryside views to the rear. This strategic layout also reveals a series of inviting outdoor entertaining spaces — perfect for long summer evenings spent outdoors.

Inside, the spacious open-plan kitchen, living, and dining area uses the staggered layout to create naturally defined spaces without the need for walls, balancing openness with intimacy. Flexible partitions allow the living spaces to seamlessly connect for entertaining or transform into cosy retreats.

A refined material palette of natural slate, stone, white render, and zinc detailing gives the home a timeless character, while the continuation of stonework internally enhances the warm, luxurious finish throughout.
