MOR Architects are delighted to be working on the fitout and interior design of the Cathedral Buildings at Donegall St Belfast. The building is undergoing an extensive restoration led by contractors Hugh J. O'Boyle Ltd following the devastating fire in late 2022 which gutted the Grade B1 Listed building.
Originally built in 1902 for tea merchant F.R. Lepper, it is fantastic to see this much loved building being meticulously restored its original glory. The works to Cathedral Buildings will see not only the exteriors repaired but also the interiors reinstated carefully preserving much of the character, with the original internal brick walls exposed, along with many other period features celebrating what will make this building special and a unique place to work within the city.
Too often we see the heritage of Belfast City lost, the Cathedral Buildings are a jewel in the Cathedral Quarter and with this restoration, they will once more will become a hub in the neighborhood supporting local independent retailers, startup entrepreneurs and small family run businesses.
