Elec Cert Ltd completed the following works in Jan/Feb 2026 & were responsible for the design, installation & commissioning for one of our blue-chip clients.

Raising of existing 250A overhead busbars to accommodate the installation of mezzanine floor.

Installation of 400A TP & N supply from main LV panel to mezzanine area (150 mtrs) to include containment spanning across main production area.

Installation of additional 400A MCCB within main LV panel.

Installation of additional 250A overhead busbars underneath new mezzanine.
Installation of containment for fire alarm system.

Installation & design of LED lighting scheme.

Installation of 12 way TP& N distribution board & supply to AC condensers.

Relocation of existing 12 way TP & N distribution boards.
Installation of final circuits feeding roller door supplies & goods lift.

All works completed on time within the clients’ tight timescales, with works being carried out in & out of normal hours.

We are looking for a Portable Appliance Tester (PAT) to join our team of electrical testing engineers.

Based In Northamptonshire

The role consists of attending various sites including schools, offices, factories, churches etc to conduct their PAT testing. Most of our work is relatively local.

Preferably you will hold:

City & Guilds 2377 or equivalent
A current DBS check

Have a full UK driving licence (ideally clean)

A close attention to detail is required, with the candidate confident in producing accurate and detailed test reports using our own own app without the need to revisit sites or to complete documentation off site.

You will carry out portable appliance testing of all company-owned equipment throughout

Requirements

Confident and competent in the use of test equipment
Qualified to undertake portable appliance testing and hold an industry recognized PAT testing qualification
Willing to undertake further training as required in order to remain up-to-date with current legislation and practice
Adaptable, able to use their own initiative within set parameters
A reasonable level of fitness (the work includes climbing staircases, accessing awkward areas and walking between areas across a large site)
Previous PAT testing experience
Reliable
Company vehicle, Mobile phone and test equipment provided.

After the stormy weather at the weekend it highlights the importance of having an ongoing maintenance regime in place on your buildings lightning conductor system.

Having regular 11 monthly inspections would highlight any potential issues that may be present on your system, a report will be issued to BE EN 62305 standard and is proof of a regular maintenance programme which can be of help when dealing with insurance companies in the event of damage caused by a lightning strike.

As more employees are working remotely it is the responsibility of the employer to keep staff safe from harm, wherever they are working.

Even small steps like testing appliances can go a long way towards making employees feel happier and more productive, and most importantly, safer.

If your staff are working from home, you are still responsible for their safety and wellbeing.

If you get PAT testing carried out in the workplace, you need to extend it to home workers too.
