This customer’s window hinge had bent after being caught by a strong gust of wind, causing the window to no longer close.

I removed the window and removed the damaged hinge and fitted a new replacement, getting the window back to opening and closing smoothly again! ✅

Strong winds can cause damage to windows and doors, especially if they’re already worn or not secured properly.

Another Window Repair Completed by FG Locksmith 🔧

I was called out to a customer who was having trouble with their window after another repair had been attempted.

Unfortunately, the hinges had been fitted incorrectly, which had left the window sitting and operating incorrectly and actually made the original problem worse.

I stripped it back, corrected the positioning, replaced the hinges and fitted everything properly so the window is now operating as it should. ✅

It’s always important that window repairs are carried out correctly, as incorrect fitting can cause further problems and potentially damage other parts of the window.

Another successful window repair! 🪟

Had another call for windows that had seized shut and wouldn’t open at all. After diagnosing the problem, I was able to get every window open without causing any damage.

The faulty espag (mechanism) was then replaced, leaving the windows opening and locking smoothly again.

If your windows or doors are stiff, jammed, won’t open, or won’t lock properly, don’t leave them until they get worse.

A few simple tips during the hot weather:

✅ Keep locks clean and lightly lubricated with a suitable lock lubricant.

There were 2 windows that had seized in the locked position due to a failed espag mechanism. After carefully gaining access with no damage, I removed the broken mechanism and fitted a new replacement.

The window is now opening, closing, and locking smoothly again, saving the customer the expense of replacing the entire window.

I was called out after the customer had been told their front door was “unrepairable” and that a full new door would be needed — costing them a lot of money.

After inspecting the issue, we were able to repair the existing door by:
✔️ Replacing the door handle
✔️ Fitting a new gearbox in the locking mechanism
✔️ Replacing the worn door gasket/seal

The door is now working smoothly again and sealing properly, all at a fraction of the cost of a new door 💷
